Growing and value-adding premium macadamias on our third-generation family farm and Agri-tourism facility.

About us

Welcome to our family’s story and welcome to our farm. As the second generation, we’re proud to be entrusted to build upon the legacy of our parents, Ron and Marion Steinhardt, who in 1958 started cultivating their small parcel of land in Bundaberg. Today, our second and third generation family work side by side on the family farm – parents and children together, just as it’s always been. We look forward to carrying on our family values of caring and conscious farming and sharing our sustainably grown, premium single-origin macadamias with locals, guests and customers all around the world.

NEW RESEARCH: A daily handful of nuts may play a protective role in preventing dementia, according to a new study.      The UK-based research analysed data from 50,386 participants, with an average age of 56.5 years, and without dementia, at the start of the study. They were tracked across seven years.   All-cause dementia (that is, Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal dementia, or vascular dementia) was assessed at baseline and at follow-up. And a 24-hour dietary questionnaire at baseline was used to assess nut consumption.   Key findings: 🌰 Daily nut consumption was linked with a 12% lower risk of all-cause dementia, compared with not eating nuts. 🌰 Nut consumption of up to one 30g handful a day, and consumption of unsalted nuts, offered the greatest benefits.   The research findings have just been published in the journal GeroScience. • Celebrate National Family Business Day with us: Family businesses are the heartbeat of Australia, and at Macadamias Australia, we’ve proudly been part of that story since 1958. What started as a small family farm over six decades ago has grown into a thriving macadamia business, with the 3rd generation of our family now proudly stepping in the business. For us, family business is more than just a way of working – it’s a way of life. It’s about passing down traditions, sharing knowledge, and working together with joy to build something truly special. Family businesses play an especially important role in regional areas like our own, where they are essential to the local economy. These businesses, from the smallest local shops to larger enterprises, drive innovation, create jobs, and foster a sense of connection that sustains our communities. When you choose family-owned businesses like Macadamias Australia, you’re not just buying a product – you’re supporting the passion and dedication of families who keep the country moving forward. Family businesses make up 70% of all businesses in Australia and employ half of the workforce. They represent the backbone of our economy and play a crucial role in the social fabric of regional areas across the country. We believe that joy is at the heart of everything we do, and we hope you experience it in every macadamia we share. By supporting family businesses, you’re helping us keep that joy alive, ensuring that Australia’s economy continues to thrive – not just for today, but for generations to come. “Family businesses are built on passion, resilience, and a deep sense of responsibility – not just to the business itself, but to the people and communities who support it. At Macadamias Australia, we’ve carried these values with us since 1958, and it brings us great joy to see the next generation continue the legacy. Supporting family businesses means choosing quality, heart, and a future we can all be proud of.” — Janelle Gerry, Managing Director, Macadamias Australia Rachel McAullay Andrew Gerry Luke Gerry Drew Mcaullay #FamilyBusiness #Leadership #Community #Sustainability #MacadamiasAustralia #SupportLocal #NFBD2024 #NFBD24

As proud Australians, we have a soft spot for macadamias! Our native nut takes centre stage tomorrow (4 September) on Macadamia Nut Day.   Here’s just three reasons why we LOVE macadamias: 1. 100% Australian: Macadamias originated in Australia’s ancient east coast rainforests more than 60 million years ago. And wild macadamias can still be found growing in certain pockets of remnant rainforests. Macadamias are such an integral part of the Australian story.   2. Delicious: Their rich, creamy, buttery flavour profile, and soft crunch, means they easily elevate both savoury and sweet dishes. Think: Macadamia-crusted fish, roasted macadamias tossed through potato salad, and vanilla ice cream topped with macadamias and berries.   3. Nutrient-rich: Macadamias pack a powerful nutritional punch. They’re rich in heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, plus offer plant protein, fibre, and a range of vitamins and minerals (like manganese and niacin), and antioxidants (with some of the highest flavonoid levels of all nuts).   More macadamia facts: https://lnkd.in/gq85CwEH   Happy Macadamia Nut Day!   Australian Macadamias #MacadamiaNutDay #AusMacadamias #australianmacadamias #macadamias #macadamianuts #nuts #health #nutrition

  • Welcoming Spring at Macadamias Australia: The Beginning of Our '25 Harvest As we step into the 2nd day of Spring, our orchards are bursting to life with the delicate, cream-coloured blossoms that signal the start of our '25 harvest. These blossoms are more than just a beautiful sight; they are the first signs of our upcoming harvest. From each cluster of 40-50 blooms, 4 to 15 nutlets will begin their journey, eventually ripening into the macadamias that will bring joy to tables worldwide. At Macadamias Australia, we are excited about the new season and the possibilities it brings. If you visit our Bundaberg farm in the coming weeks, take a moment to look into the trees and witness the early stages of our next harvest. We’re proud to continue our legacy of quality and sustainability, as we nurture these blossoms into the macadamias of tomorrow. • Without Ron Steinhardt, Macadamias Australia would not exist. His deep commitment to family and the land is the legacy our parents handed down to us—to be true custodians of what they built. Over 65 years ago, Ron’s tireless efforts and unwavering dedication laid the foundation for everything we have today. To help pay for their first parcel of farmland to be cleared, Ron continued his arduous work at the sawmill in nearby Maryborough. With the help of family, they planted peanuts and lived in a small shed with three walls and an open front. Ron slept on a mattress made from corn stalks, kept warm by an old wood stove, and never once wavered in his commitment to building something lasting. As our dear dad Ron so eloquently wrote in his memoir A Journey Through Life (2014): “…it all starts with what Marion would say: have an attitude of gratitude! Each day of our lives we took every opportunity to consolidate, be thankful, to plan and not be frightened of getting our hands dirty. Have a thankful heart; life is not meant to be easy, but we must acknowledge how blessed we are to have been born to good parents and have such a wonderful extended family of children, in-laws, grandchildren, and friends.” Today, we are proud to carry forward Ron Steinhardt’s vision, embracing the family values of caring and conscious farming. We share our sustainably grown, premium single-origin macadamias with locals, guests, and customers all around the world. This Father's Day, we honour the man who started it all—Ron Steinhardt—and the values that continue to guide us in everything we do. Happy Father’s Day to all the amazing dads out there who, like Ron, inspire us with their dedication, hard work, and love. #FathersDay #RonSteinhardt #FamilyLegacy #CaringForTheLand #FamilyBusiness #AustralianOwnedAndOperated
