About us

We are LivingWorks – the world’s leading suicide prevention skills training company. Our prevention and intervention skills programs train any person of any skill level within workplaces, schools, and entire communities to help keep one another safer from suicide. Since LivingWorks began in 1983 we have grown our global impact, training nearly 2 million people in over 30 countries worldwide. With more than 50+ peer-reviewed published articles and Government reports, our programs have proven effective in increasing skills and confidence in people to help someone with thoughts of suicide to keep safe, access help, and find hope. Our two-day LivingWorks ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) workshop is the gold standard suicide first aid training, developed over 40 years ago and continually improved through research. LivingWorks safeTALK is a half-day suicide alertness skills workshop. With over 120,000 people attending each year, it’s the world’s fastest-growing suicide prevention skills training course. We have also proudly been involved in a codesign process to create Indigenous enhancements of our programs: safeYARN and I-ASIST. The LivingWorks Start online 90-minute training program teaches foundational awareness skills to know how to identify someone with thoughts of suicide and refer them to a helper. Contact us at info@livingworks.com.au to find out how our integrated and layered training solutions can help your organisation, school, agency or community.

  • As the festive season approaches, it's essential to prioritise mental well-being alongside celebrations. Here are some simple yet impactful tips from #LivingWorks to help you enjoy a safe and balanced holiday season: ✔️ Hydrate and Rest: Remember to drink plenty of water and get quality sleep. Taking care of your physical health lays the foundation for a joyful holiday experience. ✔️ Reach Out and Connect: Check in with friends, family, and neighbors. A small gesture like a call or message can make someone’s day brighter, especially during this time of year. ✔️ Create Inclusive Gatherings: Make your celebrations welcoming for everyone by embracing diversity and recognising that people experience the holidays in their own unique ways. ✔️ Schedule "Me" Time: Amid the holiday hustle, don’t forget to carve out moments for yourself. Enjoy a favorite book, take a peaceful walk, or simply relax with a warm cup of tea. Self-care matters. ✔️ Seek Support: If the season feels overwhelming, reach out to someone you trust. Talking about your feelings can provide comfort and relief. 💛 Wishing you a safe, inclusive, and mentally rejuvenating holiday season from all of us at LivingWorks!

Great news! Schools in Victoria can now access LivingWorks Australia training through the Victorian Schools Mental Health Menu. LivingWorks ASIST and safeTALK training for staff and senior students is available, as well as funding to train teachers to deliver these programs through our Train the Trainer (T4T) program. Schools can pool their funding to host workshops or T4Ts, and access the training to develop school communities safer from suicide through evidence-based suicide prevention skills. Renee Tsatsis is the LivingWorks Training Manager for Victoria and is available to answer questions and help schools plan their training. Thank you to the Victorian Department of Education and the many schools who have already adopted ASIST and safeTALK. #ASIST #safeTALK #education Orygen Jordan Chadwick Belinda Connell Anthea Jirgens Jennifer (Niff) Howard

Ali Faraj is a LivingWorks Australia safeTALK trainer, an Australian Mental Health Prize winner, the General Manager of Community for the GWS GIANTS, a Muslim leader and a father of 4 (I’m tired just from typing all of that!). Ali is passionate about community suicide prevention and I met him through our partners at educaid led by Ziyad Serhan. This type of community-led work inspires me every day at LivingWorks. Thank you Ali for encouraging people to ask the questions and have conversations through this interview with Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). For parents out there looking to learn these skills, find a safeTALK or ASIST workshop near you. #safeTALK #suicideprevention #education NSW Health Emma McBride
