All Australians actively caring for the land and water that sustains us

About us

There are approximately 6,000 volunteer environmental groups across Australia that fall under the Landcare umbrella. Where possible, and through the support of our corporate and philanthropic partners, Landcare Australia provides resources and distributes funding to these groups, while also raising awareness of the Landcare movement through national promotional campaigns including Landcare Week and the National Landcare Awards. Landcare Australia brokers partnerships with corporate and government which enable the organisation to administer grants programs for groups around the country, helping ensure that a difference can continue to be made at grass roots level.

  • 🌿 Paradise Lost and Found! 🌏 Tony and Cherie Townsend are transforming Paradise Gully in South Australia from a former vineyard into a sanctuary for native plants and animals, including the vulnerable Regent Parrot. Inspired by the land’s call to return to its natural state, they are reintroducing native vegetation to support wildlife and restore the local ecosystem. 🐦 Their efforts include: 🔹 Planting native vegetation to create habitat and improve soil and water quality. 🔹 Partnering with local groups like the River Murray Youth Council and the River Murray Mallee Aboriginal Corporation, who helped plant over 1,000 native plants. 🌱 Mel Burford, Threatened Species Ecologist, called the project inspiring: “Motivated landholders like the Townsends are crucial to the recovery of the Regent Parrot.” 📖 Read more in the Landcare in Focus Magazine and submit your story for the May 2025 issue! 👉 Click here to explore: https://lnkd.in/gUecFpM9
