Tunnel inspection and documentation have evolved significantly from the traditional "camera and clipboard" manual process. Today, we combine laser scanning with photogrammetry to create highly detailed 3D models of tunnels, accurate to the millimeter. This advanced technology enables precise monitoring of changes over time, revolutionising tunnel management. Traditional surveying methods required surveyors to drive thousands of kilometres to capture data, but Mobile Laser Scanning provides accurate, detailed data quickly. This approach saves time, money, and resources while accumulating large datasets. Our team took a quick pitstop in the charming town of Katanning while tackling a major regional MLS capture project for Main Roads Western Australia (MRWA). This Wheatbelt project is part of the Network LiDAR Project, where we have been awarded multiple areas to capture Pointcloud data and panoramic imagery for MRWA-managed roads. At IntelliSpatial, we thrive on a challenge! Recently, we were tasked with capturing ultra-high detail orthophotos at a resolution of 1mm per pixel along 150 km of rural highway. With no existing system capable of meeting the client's specifications, we designed a custom camera solution. This enabled us to capture 72,000 photos to be georeferenced along the highway sections, with the use of mobile laser scanning (MLS) technology this identified over 16,000 defects including 50 severe ones needing immediate attention. Exciting news! We are working with Lumea (for Transgrid) to deliver reality capture, data management and auditing services for the construction of the Snowy 2.0 Transmission Connection Project. Just like the main Snowy 2.0 initiative, we are collaborating closely with the asset owner to offer invaluable insights. Our team will be conducting daily UAV flights over the work sites, with remote processing conducted by our experts stationed in Sydney, Perth, and Melbourne - a true nationwide collaborative effort. Two years ago, we created a detailed three dimensional "digital twin" capturing the prerenovation state of the historic South Melbourne Market. Currently, we are conducting laser scanning to refresh our existing point cloud of the market.
