Thank you WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub and Department of Health (WA Health) for inviting Inspiring Holdings Pty Ltd to participate in the innovation market place, we were so busy engaging with attendees and demonstrating our Universal Spacer System (#USS) device that we forgot to take photos! The room was abuzz at yesterday's Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund Open Day, which we were delighted to co-host with the Department of Health (WA Health)'s Office of Medical Research and Innovation. The day's theme 'a connected ecosystem' was on full display in the program, starting with a rousing Welcome to Country from Noongar Elder Freda Ogilvie, who's reflections on health and education bid the audience to 'think outside the box'. Presentations from Hon Stephen Dawson, Minister for Innovation and the Digital Economy; Science; Medical Research, Professor Fiona Wood AO (FHRI Advisory Council Member), Rebecca Tomkinson (FHRI Fund Advisory Council Chair), Prof Liz Davies (BrightSpark Foundation Board), Pip Brennan (lived experience consultant), and Dr Stacey Waters (A/Dir, Research OMRI) painted a picture of WA's growing health and medical life sciences sector, and the part that the FHRI Fund programs play in bringing research and innovation to life. Congratulations to all funding recipients that were announced! Dr Simon Graindorge gave the keynote address and shouted out the amazing work being done by OncoRes Medical to translate a surgeon's sense of touch into a handheld device that improves outcomes from cancer excision surgeries. We were able to hear from some of WA's innovating companies through the Innovation Showcase, a series of quick-fire presentations from companies who have received support through the FHRI Fund, and an Innovation Marketplace, where attendees were able to see innovative products up close and chat to teams.
