It’s a milestone day for the TAB Racing Club on Saturday, with two of our yearling purchases making their debuts as 2-year-olds at the Auckland Thoroughbred Racing meeting at Ellerslie Events | Ellerslie Racecourse. In Haste, by Arrowfield Stud stallion Snitzel, and Dorothea, by Proisir (Rich Hill Stud), have both trialled well ahead of their first race starts and they’ll have a great bunch of TAB Racing Club members on course to cheer them on as they dash over the 1100 metres. The Club is free to join for any TAB customer. Members receive behind-the-scenes content from leading trainers on the club’s runners, ballots for race day prizes including events and bonuses, ownership experiences, hospitality, stable tours and access to other club competitions. The TAB Racing Club’s purpose is to drive awareness and support for getting involved in racing ownership and is modelled on our Ladbrokes Racing Club in Australia that has already provided great fun for our Ladbrokes Australia customers who have opted in. All the best to Dorothea’s trainer Pam Gerard, and the Te Akau Racing - New Zealand | Australia training partnership of Mark Walker and Sam Bergerson, who prepare In Haste. Entain Australia & New Zealand has shared big news today with The Hong Kong Jockey Club announcing the arrival of World Pool in New Zealand for two major New Zealand racedays. The TAB Karaka Millions meeting, featuring the Group 1 Sistema Railway, at Ellerslie in Auckland on January 25 will be the first of the two World Pool meetings. The second World Pool meeting will take place on the newly created Champions Day on March 8, also at Ellerslie. Champions Day is home to four Group 1 races, including the Trackside New Zealand Derby and Bonecrusher Stakes, as well as the inaugural running of The NZB (New Zealand Bloodstock) Kiwi – the richest race for 3-year-olds in the Southern Hemisphere. The presence of World Pool leads to increased international viewership, as well as providing much larger pools for New Zealand’s TAB customers to bet into. Lachlan Fitt, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Entain Australia and New Zealand, the operators of New Zealand’s TAB, said the announcement reflects the progress made in New Zealand racing in the past 18 months. “World Pool is an exciting opportunity to share the very best of New Zealand racing internationally,” Fitt said. “The benefits of having the thoroughbred racing world firmly focused on New Zealand for these two meetings cannot be underestimated. As well as the advantages that our TAB customers will see, World Pool meetings are a confirmation that New Zealand racing is making its mark on the global stage.” Read more at https://lnkd.in/gzteT9Az Auckland Thoroughbred Racing New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing Inc Dean Shannon Cameron Rodger Andrew Hannan Jessica Meech #collaboration #innovation #thoroughbredracing

On Wednesday afternoon at Riccarton, alongside our inaugural sponsorship of the TAB Mile, we hosted our foundation Racing Her Way event, empowered by TAB. The event – the first of many we hope under the #racingherway banner – aimed to celebrate, educate and inform and to give women an inside look at the racing and wagering industry. It brings women who may be new or unfamiliar to the racing industry along on the journey of what happens behind the scenes, the insights and the incredible people and stories that make racing so captivating. Through this initiative we want to celebrate the female icons of our industry, while also captivating and inspiring a new generation of women to get involved. As part of the event, we gave guests a raceday with a difference, taking them up close at the starting gates, in the birdcage and in the commentary box to watch commentator Matt Cross weave his verbal magic. The day was hosted by sports broadcaster Laura McGoldrick, and the attendees heard insights from some of our sport’s stars including Trackside’s Emily Murphy, talented South Island jockey Sam Wynne and Champagne Racing New Zealand trainer Anna Furlong. Whilst the Canterbury weather didn’t play too kindly, the day was otherwise a resounding success and we look forward to the next Racing Her Way event, coming early in 2025! Tomorrow marks the first ever 3-year-old slot races in New Zealand harness racing, with The Ascent (for 3YO trotters) and The Velocity (for 3YO pacers), both worth $500,000, being run at Addington Raceway & Events Centre. Entain Australia & New Zealand has secured the Kiwi-bred but Victorian-trained He's From Heaven, trained by Jess Tubbs, for the Entain slot to provide a true trans-Tasman contender in The Velocity. He's drawn well in barrier two in the 1980-metre mobile pace that is set to run at 6.36pm NZ time. New Zealand Cup Week has already been an outstanding advertisement for the Australia and New Zealand harness racing industries with the IRT New Zealand Trotting Cup (won by Swayzee) and the Renwick Farms Dominion Trot (Just Believe) going the way of Australia. The changes to the feature race calendar, and the introduction of these two slot races are key initiatives in Harness Racing New Zealand's "The Future Starts Now" growth pathway. Entain Australia & New Zealand has teamed up with other key racing industry players as supporters of Thoroughbred Breeders Australia’s new graduate program. The scheme will give university leavers the opportunity to learn from some of the biggest names associated with racing, breeding and wagering. Those accepted on to the course will undertake a two-week learning block based at Flemington racecourse, before starting an internship with a major employer. Entain Deputy CEO and CFO Lachlan Fitt said: “This program offers young people a unique chance to see every side of the racing industry, from breeding to race-day operations to wagering. At Entain, we know the value of fostering new talent, and this program is a real game-changer for anyone serious about a future in thoroughbred racing. “In today’s industry, hands-on experience and mentorship from leading organisations are key to building the next generation of racing professionals, and that’s exactly what this program offers.” Other companies supporting the program are Godolphin, Gai Waterhouse Racing, Magic Millions, Melbourne Racing Club, William Inglis and Son Ltd, Yulong and the Victoria Racing Club. TBA aim to attract 10-12 graduates in the first year, with the learning block starting in late January 2025. After this fortnight, graduates will join an employer for a paid internship of at least six weeks. Those applying need to have graduated in 2024 or 2023. The team was delighted to host the inaugural Entain Australia and New Zealand Young Leaders Day at Ellerslie on Tuesday this week, bringing together some of our brightest industry stars for a day of learning and connection. After the success of the first Industry Excellence Awards in July, we started thinking about how we could continue the momentum and create an ongoing platform for our young industry leaders to build relationships, share knowledge, and learn from the exceptional figures in our industry. The day was our first step towards this with attendees hearing from Brendan Lindsay MNZM (Cambridge Stud) about leadership learnings, Victoria McArthur and Andy Cowan (OnTrack) regarding mental health and suicide prevention, Leith Innes (Trackside) about his life post a successful jockey career, Nicky White (Kaha Nui) with the importance of building relationships and connections and Belinda Innes (The Story Co) who gave attendees some tips and tricks for interviews and other media opportunities. Our young leaders also spent time thinking about next year's Awards and how they can take greater ownership in advancing these to the next level. We know everyone who took time to join us took something away from the day, and we'll look forward to seeing our young leaders continue to thrive and develop, as they apply their new learnings. Given the success of this initial day, we will look at a further opportunity to formally connect our young leaders again, in the New Year. #leadership #development #youngleaders #industryleaders #relationshipbuilding Jessica Meech Andrew Hannan Lachlan Fitt Cheryl Hirtzel Jess Innes Alicia Gainsford Matt Smith

It's one day out from the 2024 edition of The Everest and I Wish I Win had a stroll around the Randwick stables this morning ahead of the A$20 million slot race that has grabbed Australia's attention since its inception in 2017, and now New Zealand's. This year's field is incredibly strong, but I Wish I Win - racing in the Trackside NZ slot - is primed and ready to go after two great lead-up runs in Melbourne. Kiwis have heard plenty about The Everest in the build-up to , with I Wish I Win's journey and TAB's $10m Everest Mega Millions competition both making headlines this week, and the team can't wait to see what unfolds at 4.15pm Sydney time tomorrow.
