With the launch of our partnership with Tank. Research, Strategy & Transformation Consultancy, much of the past few months have been filled with long and reflective conversations on impact, strategy and community voice (storytelling). 🌟 What do these terms mean to individuals, particularly those who are dedicating their lives to purposeful work? 🌟 What does it mean for businesses, institutions and organisations for the future of their work and purpose? 🌟 Importantly, what does it translate for communities and in centring their voice and lived experiences? We are excited to invite you to a webinar in conversation with Tank’s Dimitri Antonopoulos and Karina Dea. We will explore what does ‘impact’ mean, the importance of Impact Accountability, how strategy must change for greater impact measurement, and what listening to community actually looks like. This webinar is in early 2025. Registration is free - see below. https://lnkd.in/gJpbfJsX Susanne Bransgrove Ishara Sahama #tankxeig #partnership #impactaccountability #impactwork #webinar #storytelling #communityvoice

We are looking forward to being part of this cross-country dialogue between Australia and the UK with YPSV! This online event presents a panel discussion with incredible young professionals across Australia and the UK who focus on policy, research, sense-making and evaluation in social value. Featuring Rebecca Roebuck (panel chair), Olivia Sutcliffe, Michelle Caicedo, Ishara Sahama and Swastika Samanta, this online event will delve into sharing the challenges, priorities and opportunities for collaboration, as well as how the future of social value is changing. Through our work, we have first-hand experience of understanding how 'social value' is perceived and recognised (or not) in spaces that are not familiar or well-versed with social procurement in Australia. Yet these spaces (community groups, businesses & organisations) have the greatest need for translating and communicating social impact and therefore its value. Ishara will be sharing these learnings and reflections during the panel. This online event presents a great opportunity for those in our network to join and be part of this dialogue. To register, see the link below: #socialvalue #impactmeasurement #socialvalueaustralia #impactevaluation #crosscollaboration

After long conversations, reflections and research, we are excited to welcome you to our thinking place. Our Journal is where we share our thoughts, reflections, dreams and questions. As multidisciplinary practitioners, it is critical that we constantly reflect, think and unlearn what is presented to us so as to better inform our practice. Our first article is a long-form essay which "sets the scene" for showcasing one of the reasons why Echo Impact Group exists. We are here to do good work, but sometimes it means facing harsh and uncomfortable truths. Without honesty, openness and willingness to change for improving our current systems, how can we truly be committed to working together with others if we don't share an aligned vision of prosperity, equity and justice? A pleasure to work, learn and collaborate with the team behind The Design Conference (TDC), guided by the magnetic leadership of Matthew Haynes. This year we elevated our support and service to TDC through conference logistical support and importantly, collating audience feedback & evaluation. It is a first - in its long running - for TDC to create a baseline rating. The team and TDC regulars are all aware of the invaluable impact of the Conference, but now we can tangibly prove its impact through both a quantitative score and qualitative evaluation. We are excited to continue to partner, learn, dream and grow with The Design Conference next year and the years beyond. Stay tuned to our socials for updates on the impact, intrinsic value and transformative change enabled by Australia's premier creative event. #thedesignconference #TDC2025 #impactevaluation #eventimpact #socialchange Ishara Sahama Susanne Bransgrove Whitney Smith

We couldn’t have put it better— Rebecca Roebuck thank you for this post. To support development projects - no matter the scale - it is critical to have input and support from local communities. Deliberative and participatory engagement with community members, local stakeholders and representatives and on an ongoing basis is fundamental to ensuring equitable decision-making as well as to ensure all possible risks and scenarios are considered. Community-led Social Impact Assessments are an emerging model + practice in the traditional space of impact & evaluation but have long been practiced by those in grassroots, community-led & based organisations/ movements. It is great to see such praxis emerge across industries that are employing practitioners versed in social impact evaluation & assessment. Ultimately, it provides a means of providing accountability that goes beyond vague or broad-sweeping terms like “social licence”. #impactassessment #communityled #socialimpact #sociallicence
In case you missed it... Support for the renewable energy transition in regional Queensland has slipped to a new low, with new polling showing only 49% feeling positive about the shift. As local councils, we understand the vital role that renewable projects play in our future, but we also know that successful transitions require more than just words. It's about genuine engagement and ensuring our communities benefit from these large-scale investments. We’re calling for a social licence framework that locks in benefits and mitigates local challenges with a stronger voice for our regions. Together, we can ensure that the benefits of these developments are shared fairly across Queensland. Read more in the Courier Mail https://lnkd.in/gDS9f_S6 #RenewableEnergy #RenewableTransition

Reflecting on the past year (and a bit), here are some of the orgs & businesses we have worked with: 🌼 A boutique change management consultancy focusing on family business succession 🌼 An Aboriginal Corporation focusing on sustainable economic development, tourism and community capacity building for their Kin and local economies [image 1 - taken on film on Gimuy Country] 🌼 A marine conservation NGO for a program led by First Nations Sea Women [image 2 - scenic photo of Yunbenun Country where Coral Sea Foundation works from]. 🌼 A emerging small business providing Australia’s first compostable wipe for bike maintenance [image 3 - Bikey Wipes] 🌼 Australia’s premier industry conference for the design & creative arts, held locally in Magandjin (Brisbane) every year [image 4 - The Design Conference] The past 18 months have been eventful, but it also presented critical moments needed for slowness and reflection. Stepping into 2024 we knew that our positioning as a non-traditional consulting agency can either leave us forging a solitary path or one which presents opportunities for collaborating and knowledge sharing. For us, impact measurement and strategic change cannot be facilitated in isolation, nor can it be improved upon without collective feedback. Stay tuned for more our updates on what we have been working on this year. #echoimpactgroup #socialchange #impactmeasurement #slowness

We are living in an ever-changing Society and one facing increasingly complex issues intersecting with politics, social injustice, ecological harm, and economic system(s) which are no longer serving us and the life-systems we depend upon. It is critical to understand the effect (therein ‘the impact’) we have unto society and our natural systems: assessing its qualities and staying accountable to that which is positive and enduring. We sense-make our effect and intrinsic connectedness to that which is life-centred. We are non-traditional in this nexus of strategy and impact measurement, and have so much to share from the past year as well as what lies ahead. #systemschange #planetaryjustice #decolonialpractice #echoimpactgroup #socialjustice #intersectionality #impactmeasurement #strategy

If you have ever been curious about the principles, ethics and grounded learnings of EIG, this podcast is a great starting point. Recently Ishara Sahama was in discussion with Wendy Nash from Get Around Cabo Carfree to discuss the nuances of #communityengagement, mobilisation, long-term change and the need to deeply listen to communities when making urban infrastructural change. Part of our EIG approach with systems #impactmeasurement is grounded in understanding the complex nature of community engagement & mobilisation, social / behavioural change and how it intersects with other non-human systems. Have a listen to this podcast episode that explores the need to integrate #livedexperiences in #decisionmaking processes and, how the everyday citizen can make a difference in their neighbourhood through active participation in locally organised initiatives. 🌟 Episode link below 🌟 This episode provides a glimpse into community engagement that is informed by decolonial practice and acknowledges the complexity of social change for #sustainabledevelopment.
