  • 2024 Year in Reflection: A Holiday Message from Dokotela As we celebrate the festive season, we take a moment to reflect on an incredible year of growth, connection, and impact. This year, Dokotela achieved some remarkable milestones: - Expanded our telepsychiatry network to over 50 specialists, enhancing access to quality psychiatric care. - Supported 10,000 unique patients through 20,000 appointments, demonstrating our commitment to impactful service delivery. - Partnered with 31 Mental Health Centres to provide access to psychiatry across their communities nation-wide - Launched initiatives like the Neurodiversity Focused Mentoring Group, helping our psychiatrists build confidence and expertise in specialised fields. - Proudly shortlisted as a finalist for the Central and Eastern Sydney PHN Primary Health Award for Excellence in Community Services Delivery. - Celebrated the season with our inaugural NSW Branch Dokotela Doctors Christmas Party, featuring an engaging interview with Dr Mark Cross about his latest book, Mental State. None of this would have been possible without the dedication and support of our exceptional psychiatrists, team members, and partners. Your passion for improving mental health care continues to inspire us every day. As we look ahead to 2025, we’re excited to keep building on this momentum—creating even greater access to high-quality, patient-centred care and supporting psychiatrists in achieving their professional goals. Wishing you all a joyful holiday season and a bright, fulfilling New Year. Here's to continued success and collaboration in 2025! With gratitude, The Dokotela Team #2024YearInReview #MentalHealthMatters #Telepsychiatry #ThankYou

  • The article by The Sydney Morning Herald this morning, reports over 150 NSW psychiatrists considering resignation over pay disputes. This highlights the immense pressures our colleagues in the public health system face. Public psychiatrists are vital in advocating for better patient care but have often overlooked the need to advocate for themselves. We are here to support you. Dokotela offers a flexible telepsychiatry platform as an interim solution for psychiatrists who want to: ✔️ Supplement their income while continuing in the public system. ✔️ Maintain and enhance clinical skills during industrial actions or reduced public workloads. ✔️ Work in a supportive, peer-driven environment that respects your professional goals. Our platform allows you to schedule sessions at your convenience, providing stability without compromising your public service commitments. We’re not here to draw doctors away from the public system—our goal is to stand by you as you continue to stand by your patients. If you’d like to explore how Dokotela can work for you, feel free to reach out directly to our Specialist Partnerships Manager Dominique Fox at dominique.fox@dokotela.com.au

  • 🗨 A friend of mine, Matt, is an accountant at a large firm. He was going through a particularly stressful and busy time at work and hadn’t been sleeping well. Prior to a business meeting one morning, he suddenly felt his stress and anxiety levels rising, he could no longer think straight, his palms felt sweaty and clammy, he began to feel nauseous and could hear and feel his heart pounding. He felt as if he had to escape and rushed out into the tea room trying to catch his breath and wondering if he was having a heart attack. “I felt as if I was about to die,” Matt shared. He had just experienced a panic attack. “What is worse is that I am now worrying about whether this will happen again.” 💬   Mental health matters in every workplace. This story shared, highlights the very real impact that mental health challenges can have on daily life. It’s important to remember that psychiatric support isn’t just for extreme cases—many people like Matt can benefit from specialist consultations to manage anxiety, stress, and other mental health issues before they escalate further.   Psychiatry can help individuals understand their symptoms, develop treatment strategies, and ultimately regain control over their well-being. With the right support, people can learn to manage moments like these and prevent them from affecting their work and personal lives.   Mental health is health, and reaching out for help when needed should be normalised.   Please note that Dokotela is not a crisis service.
