  • Happy Friday network! I wanted to take a moment out of your day to shine a spotlight on one of my participants, and talk about his amazing and inspiring story to drive systematic change in the youth justice sector. Geoff was diagnosed later in life with a fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD), he spent most of his life in and out of prison and but since receiving this diagnosis, he has been tirelessly advocating for change within the youth justice system. His goal is to raise more awareness on FASD and improve the way educators, carers, and correctional officers support young people diagnosed with FASD. Today, I had the privilege of attending Geoff's FASD awareness presentation, and I cannot express enough how proud I am of his hard work and dedication. His passion and commitment to making a difference are nothing short of remarkable. If you're interested in learning more about Geoff's journey, please take a moment to watch the video link below. Additionally, if you're interested in enrolling in his course (which is free), the next session will be held in Rockingham—details and the link are below. https://lnkd.in/g9UpkFVq Geoff is truly an inspiration; I’m so privileged to be a part of his support team and witness his journey❤️ https://lnkd.in/gUs8re-c

  • 🚨 NDIS Changes from October 3rd, 2024: What You Need to Know Significant changes are coming to the NDIS. Here’s a summary of the key updates: 1. New Definition of NDIS Supports 📝 The NDIS will only fund supports related to a persons disability and/or impairment(s) listed in the access request. A draft list is available now, and the final version will be released soon. 2. Simplified Budgets 💰 New plans will display a total budget amount instead of line items, making it easier to manage your funds. All new plans will now be 12 months long. 3. Plan Management Changes 🔄 If funds aren’t used as intended, the NDIS can change how your plan is managed, possibly switching it from self- or plan-managed to NDIA-managed. 4. Claims & Payments Deadline ⏳ A 2-year limit on claims is being introduced. Ensure you submit invoices within two years of providing services—late claims will not be accepted. 5. Requests for Information 📬 NDIS may ask for info or assessments. If participants don’t comply within 90 days, their access to the Scheme could be revoked. 6. New Planning Process 🛠️ A new process for assessing needs and creating flexible budgets is on the way. No immediate changes for existing participants, but transitions will happen gradually. 7. Impairment Notices 🔖 From January 2025, new participants will receive an impairment notice confirming their permanent disability. Existing participants will get one when they move to a new plan. 8. Updated Access Requirements ✔️ New guidelines clarify when NDIS-funded supports are appropriate, helping distinguish between NDIS and mainstream system responsibilities. If you have any questions or need assistance navigating these changes, feel free to contact me at christina@connectiveserviceswa.com.au 💬
