"While the march organisers agreed more funding was desperately needed, they said local men also played a crucial role in ending domestic violence. "We can't handle this problem if we're not funded appropriately," Michael Liddle said. "But it costs me no money to stop this bloke from doing what he's doing to his partner. Call it out."

Yesterday, Congress Ingkintja Male Health Service Manager Michael Liddle led his team and a large number of men from the Central Australian Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities to take a stand against domestic violence and violence against women. The march commenced with a men’s meeting at the courthouse lawns, meetung up with the women’s meeting at the Flynn Church lawns then marching to the civic centre. The vision of so many men taking this stand - supported so strongly by women, was very special and incredibly moving. This impactful event saw very honest stories told by powerful men being vulnerable and strong, with a call to action that men needed to hold each other to account to “end the silence and stop the violence.” Thanks to Raymond Walters Penangke, Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services, St John NT, Marion Scrymgour, Central Land Council Chair Warren Williams, Yirara College of the Finke River Mission, Tangentyere Council Aboriginal Corporation, Matt Paterson/ Alice Springs Town Council and all of the other people who spoke and supported the event.

Creative job sharing solving #GP workforce issues and providing continuity of care in #remote #Aborignal #healthcare. Reflecting on the benefits of this model, Alan says, “This job-sharing arrangement allows me to provide the best care I can while also balancing my professional and personal life.” “We also bring different skillsets to the table, which means we can meet the diverse needs of the community in various ways.” Both Alan and Tony highlight how the arrangement not only benefits them but also enhances patient care. “I return to work feeling like I can provide better care,” says Tony. “Having time at home allows me to come back refreshed and ready to fully support the community.” Sound like a change you'd like to make? Talk to us at Congress (recruitment@caac.org.au) or Northern Territory PHN today!
