  • 🎵 A thrill of hope, a weary world rejoices 🎵 At Compassion, we’ve been reflecting on what it really means to hope. Here in Australia, we hope for a lot of things: petrol prices to go down, our footy team to win the grand final, or for the perfect Christmas present. Or, maybe, you’re hoping for something personal and important this year. 11-year-old Nawkaybul is not sponsored right now, but thanks to the faithful members of her local church, she is filled with hope for her future. Our local church partners ensure all children receive the same support whether sponsored or not. But that support doesn’t come without a cost. That’s why, this Christmas, we are committed to giving local churches around the world a #ThrillOfHope with a generous contribution to Compassion’s #UnsponsoredChildrenFund. This fund supports children like Nawkaybul in the waiting and helps local project staff show love to every single child in their care. As you listen to this song again this Christmas season, consider how you could be part of a #ThrillOfHope around the world. Could you give to support a child waiting to be sponsored? • What were you doing in 2020? When COVID-19 hit, people all across the world suffered. For Jean, it meant his sponsor could no longer afford to support him. Thankfully, hope was not lost because of the #UnsponsoredChildrenFund. Jean could still receive all the same medical, nutritional and educational support as the other children in his project in Rwanda. Thanks to our local church partners, Jean’s mother says the family received sheep and hens to give the family stability. “I’m grateful to the centre that even without a sponsor, my child benefits from food relief and nutritional support and gets scholastic materials like other sponsored children,” said Jean’s mother. Across the world, there are many children still waiting to be sponsored. This Christmas, will you help? Give the life-changing gift of hope for children waiting for a sponsor. • 🎁 Three Ways to Celebrate Advent in Your Workplace 🎁 The season of Advent is upon us! As you finalise your projects for the year and look toward your long-awaited Christmas leave, take the next few weeks to remember why we celebrate. Here are our best tips: Reflect on the birth of Jesus with scripture 📖 Before you begin your work for the day, start with the Word of God. You can read the Nativity story on your own, or you can take advantage of Compassion Australia’s Advent devotional: https://lnkd.in/gMxhBtv Do a random act of kindness 💌 With Jesus’ birth came hope, joy and peace. How could you give the same to your coworkers? Perhaps you could shout the next round of coffees or encourage someone who’s doing a great job! Try a small act of kindness every day before you break for Christmas. Give a gift to your neighbours 🌍 Christmas is a time for giving generously, and we have the perfect opportunity for you. This year, you can support children in the Compassion neighbourhood who are waiting faithfully for a sponsor. With your donation, our local church partners can continue to give the same support to all children in their care! Give hope this Christmas: https://bit.ly/410ke2W #Advent #Christmas #EndOfYear #RandomActsOfKindness #WorkplaceCulture #NonProfit #CharitableGiving #ChristmasCharity

  • Have you ever wondered how Compassion supports children waiting for a sponsor? It’s through our Unsponsored Children Fund. As soon as a child is enrolled at a child development centre, this fund ensures they begin to receive the practical and spiritual support they need to overcome poverty, whether they are sponsored or not. However, it’s not until a child is sponsored that a very important part of the program begins: a one-to-one relationship that reminds the child that someone is thinking of them, believing in them and praying for them. 💙 As part of our Christmas Appeal, you can give to our Unsponsored Children Fund so that children without a sponsor can be reminded just how loved they are. We believe every child deserves to be known, loved and connected—and you can help us make sure they see it in action! Donate to the Unsponsored Children Fund today. https://bit.ly/410ke2W

  • #BlackFriday sales can be tempting. 💵 In a consumerist culture, we are hard-wired to buy things that we don’t always need. This desire only gets worse when our inboxes get spammed with marketing emails and the shiny promise of new toys at a discounted price. This Black Friday, we want to offer you an even better deal: showing kindness to others. 💙 Through Gifts of Compassion, you can bless your neighbour instead of filling your spare closet with things you don’t really need! Gifts of Compassion meet the specific needs of children, families and communities living in poverty by giving them support in areas like healthcare, education, farming and support for new mums. Why not head to Gifts of Compassion today and bless your neighbour? https://lnkd.in/gGSvVUDe
