🌍 Water Matters: Comparing the Sustainability of Energy Sources 💧 Did you know that generating 1 MWh of electricity with coal can consume up to 6,700 litres of water, while solar uses just a fraction? At Clima, we’re committed to driving sustainability and transparency across the net zero journey. Our recent analysis highlights the water intensity of traditional energy sources compared to renewables: 🔹 Coal Power: High operational and lifecycle water usage (4,150–6,700 litres/MWh). 🔹 Natural Gas: Moderate consumption (1,950–3,300 litres/MWh). 🔹 Solar Power: A clear winner, with minimal operational needs and lifecycle usage of only 1,107–1,215 litres/MWh. Water is a precious resource, and its usage must be considered in the broader sustainability conversation. By transitioning to renewable energy solutions like solar, we can drastically reduce water consumption while lowering carbon footprints. At Clima, we help businesses make informed choices for a sustainable future, balancing environmental impact with operational needs. 💡 Let’s start the conversation about how your organisation can achieve net zero while protecting vital resources like water. #NetZero #Sustainability #ClimateAction #WaterManagement #RenewableEnergy #ClimaSolutions

If you are lucky enough to live in Sydney- you are blessed with one of the world’s most beautiful harbours and countless beaches that define our culture and way of life. But beyond providing us with a place to swim, surf or just enjoy; the ocean regulates our climate, absorbs about 30% of human-made carbon dioxide emissions, and powers the water cycle that provides the freshwater and oxygen we all depend on. Today, Ocean Crusaders is leading the Ocean Sustainability Forum—a critical conversation about protecting this vital resource. If you have time, we encourage you to attend and gain a chance to learn, engage, and take action for our oceans. We welcome the registration of the Austin Downs Environmental Account in Murchison, Western Australia. Spanning over 167,000 hectares, Austin Downs is a treasure trove of native vegetation and cultural heritage. Located near Cue, Austin Downs is a pastoral lease boasting a diverse range of vegetation including acacias, grevilleas, and saltbushes. This landscape provides a sanctuary for various priority ecological communities and species like the 'black form' of the Western Pygmy Skink (Egernia stokesii badia), and the critically endangered Beaked Emu Bush (Eremophila rostrata). In partnership with Bush Heritage Australia, Austin Partnership is utilising the innovative Integrated Vegetation Condition Method (NV-10 Accredited Method) to develop an Environmental Account. This method employs advanced technology like UAV imagery, offering a groundbreaking approach to monitoring vegetation across the nation, with the exception of closed canopy forests. 🌍 The landholder’s commitment not only enhances biodiversity but also honours the rich cultural heritage of the Wajarri and Yugunga-Nya peoples, working alongside Traditional Owners. The Austin Downs landscape is deeply intertwined with the stories and knowledge of these Indigenous communities, who have managed and cared for this land for generations. Their presence is felt across the property, from the rich vegetation to the ancient cultural sites that tell the story of the landscape's past and present. Adding to its environmental significance, Austin Downs is also part of a 25-year Carbon Project established in 2018. The carbon project aligns with environmental accounting to monitor, track, and report on ongoing work to preserve and restore native vegetation and verify the state of nature. 🌳 📋 Account Name: Austin Downs 🔖 Account ID: AU00067 📍Location: Murchison, Western Australia 🌏 Area: 167, 570 ha 🌳 Assets: Native Vegetation Learn more about this account 🔗 https://bit.ly/3AGLQii Thank you, Austin Downs, for adopting the Accounting for Nature® Framework. Stay tuned as this account progresses toward certification, allowing you to continue tracking this significant initiative that fosters biodiversity and preserves the rich cultural heritage of the Wajarri and Yugunga-Nya peoples. 💚 #SustainableFuture #EnvironmentalStewardship #NativeVegetation #CulturalHeritage #AustinDowns #BushHeritageAustralia #EnvironmentalAccounting #MakeNatureCount

"The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it." – Robert Swan This polar bear image may seem a departure from Clima's usual focus on Australia’s stunning flora and fauna. However, it serves as a powerful reminder of the interconnectedness of our world. Just because we may not have direct custodianship over another country or continent doesn’t mean our actions—or inactions—don’t ripple out and affect ecosystems far beyond our borders. Robert Swan, OBE, is a true environmental pioneer. As the first person to walk to both the North and South Poles, his historic journeys revealed firsthand the fragility of our planet. These experiences ignited his lifelong dedication to conservation and inspired the founding of the 2041 Foundation, a movement to preserve Antarctica and champion sustainability globally. As a UN Goodwill Ambassador and one of the world's leading voices for environmental action, Robert continues to inspire individuals, businesses, and governments to act boldly for a sustainable future. At Clima, we share his vision that accountability and action start with each of us. We aim for real change for our planet and future generations. #ThoughtfulTuesdays #ItStartsWithYou #Clima #EnvironmentalAdvocacy #InterconnectedPlanet #ClimateAction #RobertSwan
