Governments need to step in to ensure homes are cooler in the summer and cheaper to run so people experiencing financial stress are protected from the worst impacts of heat waves. ACOSS in partnership with the First Nations Clean Energy Network and the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Housing Association (NATSIHA) is running a survey capturing the impacts of heat on people experiencing financial stress. If you’re struggling to cool your home in hot weather, will you complete the survey? https://lnkd.in/gK5zc3xJ

People living in poorly designed homes could face indoor temperatures of over 40 degrees on the hottest days. And while some can afford to pump air conditioners and fans to stay cool, others will be risking heat stroke and going without food and medicine to pay their energy bills. We're running a survey in partnership with the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Housing Association (NATSIHA) and the First Nations Clean Energy Network to understand the impacts of heat on people experiencing financial stress. Will you complete the survey? https://lnkd.in/gK5zc3xJ

There is no holiday season if you’re experiencing food insecurity, housing and rental stress, and skyrocketing energy bills. The people with the power to make change need to hear about the realities of receiving income support. We want to thank all of you who have shared your stories with us.As more people speak out, the call for change grows. Share your story here: https://lnkd.in/gvpPQqj3 The Federal Government must Raise the Rate of income support so that everyone can cover the basics.
