Thursday opportunities! Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) is expanding its Public Affairs team with the appointment of a Public Affairs Executive. Reporting to the Head of Public Affairs, the successful candidate will be a key member of the Public Affairs team responsible for stakeholder engagement, parliamentary liaison, and the efficient delivery of the Parliamentary Affairs function. Responsibilities will include, but not limited to, parliamentary engagement; research; processing and drafting replies to Parliamentary Questions (PQs); liaison function between SEAI and the Department of Climate, Environment and Communications (DECC); project management; event and administrative support as required. The successful candidate will also be expected to provide public affairs advice and strategic input across the organisation. Employers for Change is an Open Doors Initiative programme dedicated to helping businesses navigate the world of disability, inclusion and confidence. Their new podcast series explores these areas, including how misconceptions and societal attitudes often create more barriers than disabilities themselves. Host Mohamed speaks with Bobbie Hickey, someone with lived experience of disability, and the Equality, Diversity, Inclusion People Officer with Mr PRICE in Ireland. She shares her insights and suggestions for how businesses can dispel myths about disability to build inclusive workplaces.

Throughout this year, we have been glad to partner with AHEAD (Ireland) on the national collaborative WIDE (Widening Inclusion of Disability in Employment) framework that will be launched next year. This resonated with me so much. While working at Google I had the privilege to mentor amazing people from outside of the company, from local organisations to incredible young female talent from Afghanistan (via the Asian University for Women) and others. I also received mentorship at Google for which I am grateful for and to give back, I worked on a mentorship and sponsorship programme for my wider organisation, so that more of us can get access to it internally too. One of the pleasant surprises since joining EY over 2.5 years ago is that they have the heft, the access and the interest to support iniaitives focussing on making a #BetterWorkingWorld for more than just our clients.
