We’re pleased to report a reduction once again in our mean gender pay gap, dropping from 7% to 5.2%, almost half of the average gender pay gap in Ireland according to the Central Statistics Office. Speaking about Lidl’s 2024 Gender Pay Gap Report, Maeve McCleane, our Chief People Officer, commented: “We strongly believe in the positive impact that a zero gender pay gap can have, not only on our own colleagues, but Ireland’s society and economy. By tapping into wider talent pools across genders, we will ensure a multiplicity of opinions and approaches, enhanced teamwork, ensure we retain both our female and male colleagues and that genders across our workforce are reflective of our broad and diverse customer base.” At Lidl, we’ve been laying the foundation to reduce our pay gap for many years and have launched several tangible initiatives to reduce obstacles, support female development and break down barriers for the progression and retention of female talent at every life stage. We are proud to announce that this year’s Trolley Dash has raised an incredible €314,123 for our new charity partner, Family Carers Ireland, marking a fantastic start to our new three-year charity partnership. Trolley Dash is our flagship fundraising initiative, and it’s wonderful to see our customers and employees coming together to support such an important cause. We are incredibly proud of this achievement and grateful to everyone who participated in and supported this year’s dashes. We’d also like to say a massive well done to our 182 lucky Trolley Dash winners who took on the challenge in their local stores this past weekend.

👏 We are thrilled to announce our new charity partnership with Family Carers Ireland, the national charity supporting around half a million family carers across the country. 👏 With a pledge to raise €1 million over the next three years, funds raised by Lidl colleagues and customers will support the vital work of Family Carers Ireland who provide free supports and services such as emergency care planning, counselling, respite support and more.   According to Family Carers Ireland, there are over 500,000 family carers across the country, but many others who are in a carer role are slipping through the net. Research amongst Lidl Ireland employees found that two in five employees are currently in a caring role and three quarters of employees believe they will be in a caring role in the next 5 to 15 years. Through the new partnership, we aim to encourage family carers to self-identify and connect with the charity with the message ‘we see you' to ensure that no one has to care alone.
