What’s your new year’s resolution?   We are reaffirming our mission to be a significant player in the generic pharmaceutical industry within Europe and the MENA regions, through the manufacture and commercialisation of our own Beta-Lactam products as well as the provision of contract manufacturing services for Beta-Lactams.   Gaelic Laboratories was founded in 2022 with significant investments that enabled us to obtain a range of new technologies in our plants and labs. Winter is well and truly with us in Ireland, and we’re grateful for the EU's Pharmaceutical Strategy that emphasises the need for resilience in the supply chain, aiming to bring antibiotics production back to Europe.   To be better prepared for this winter season, the EMA’s Executive Steering Group on Shortages and Safety of Medicinal Products (MSSG) agreed in 2023 to increase the production of key antibiotics within the EU. This decision followed an alarming shortage of amoxicillin across several EU member states, which exposed the EU’s reliance on imported antibiotics.   Consistent with this plan, over the past 2 years, Gaelic Laboratories’ management team has undertaken a reshoring strategy that has limited the impact of geopolitical insecurities and reduced company’s customers’ exposure to risk.   Simplified supply chains also serve to minimise transportation, so our strategy of reshoring enhances Gaelic Laboratories’ offering of being faster, better and more competitive, while reducing carbon emissions.   Gaelic Laboratories is a world-class manufacturer of Beta-Lactam products. Many thanks to @Contract Pharma for interviewing Bryan O’Donnell, Head of Quality at Gaelic Laboratories, about #GMP challenges in #pharmamanufacturing and ensuring production of highest quality pharma products.    In this interview, Bryan explains the importance of – and some approaches to – good site maintenance, the importance of team training and experience, quality control and quality assurance.   Gaelic Laboratories is situated on a site that has been consistently manufacturing the highest-quality pharmaceuticals for about 40 years. As Bryan says, “That kind of record can only be achieved with great QA (and QC) and with a culture of continuous improvement that allows us to regularly assess our systems, find the flaws, and build a plan for correcting them.
