Supporting educational opportunities for children in under resourced communities
About us
basis.point is an initiative by the Irish Fund Industry with a vision to make a sustainable and tangible difference to those living in poverty, particularly young people, by supporting charities that focus on education. The Irish Fund Industry is hugely active in terms of providing financial assistance to those in need and is also tremendously engaged in active volunteerism. This assistance is mainly implemented through the CSR programs of industry firms and mostly takes place ‘under the radar’. basis.point was formed in 2013 (receiving charitable status in 2014), to supplement this very laudable effort and seeks support from all sectors of the industry, in particular, from individuals, corporates and fund promoters. basis.point reached a major milestone in February 2015, when we made our first multi-year grant to the Archways charity to implement the Archways basis.point programme Delivering Incredible Years® in Dublin’s Inner City. This first grant embodies what basis.point is about, helping a program that seeks to improve the lives of children with emotional, social and behavioural difficulties through early collaborative classroom and home intervention. This evidence based program will have a significantly positive impact on the children themselves, their family, friends and school friends and, ultimately, on society as a whole. We continue to seek donations to help basis.point meet our objective of making a real difference to those young people caught in poverty by focusing on enabling education to make a positive impact on their lives. You can help by becoming a patron or a volunteer and as basis.point can only make a difference to the extent it is supported, we urge everyone who has a stake in Ireland’s success as a premier global fund hub to get involved.

Some days are simply uplifting. Today at Northern Trust we had the privilege of hearing impact stories from three wonderful students Ella, David and Adam, each of whom had benefited from participation in the Business in the Community Ireland programmes run with funding from basis.point. As Prestige Patrons, Northern Trust were one of the first companies to commit to the idea of industry collaboration and provided seed funding for a number of regional partner programmes. Reflecting their presence throughout Ireland, Northern Trust are committed to helping us expand the geographic reach of our programmes combatting educational disadvantage at every stage in the educational journey. Thank you sincerely to Clive Bellows and Melíosa O'Caoimh for championing basis.point within the organisation. Thank you to Jonathan Carey, MBA who hosted a group in Limerick, to Alan Gillard and Michelle Diamond Kelly for welcoming us to their Dublin offices, and to the 70 team players who dialled in to hear more about what our partnership can achieve. One thing is for sure, each of the students thanked Northern Trust for their commitment to levelling the playing field and helping them to continue in further education and reach their educational potential. #creatingbrigterfutures #joinedupgiving #gratitude Eoin FitzGerald Colm Clifford Declan O'Sullivan Eimear Cowhey Eimear O'Dwyer Pat Lardner Paul Kilcullen Frank Gannon Paul Daly Laura Trimble Edel O'Malley Irish Funds Paula Brady Edel Littleton

Celebrating two basis.point Champions! Wishing Clive Bellows and Declan O'Sullivan a fond farewell and heartfelt thank you as they step away from the basis.point Board of Directors, having completed their terms of service. Both have been involved since the early days and have played crucial roles in the establishment of the charity. Clive grasped immediately the concept of collaboration, and the importance of the industry working together. His charismatic leadership as Chairperson has been exemplary, and he has been vitally important in growing trust amongst our corporate base. Declan was instrumental in setting up the funding model with recurring annual donations allowing for sustainable long term investment in education and worked tirelessly to encourage corporates and individuals to sign up.. Clive and Declan, you will both be missed but you leave behind a great legacy and have played a vital role in transforming the lives of so many. basis.point is in your DNA and we are certain you will continue to support us in whichever ways you can. Thank you. Diversity and Inclusion are fundamental to our strategy. Yesterday, we had the pleasure of joining our colleagues from the Irish Fund Directors Association (IFDA) for a thought-provoking discussion on inclusion in the boardroom. This insightful conversation offered the opportunity for Eve Finn to highlight how many of our programmes are designed to support children from marginalized and under-supported communities and foster a culture of inclusion from the grassroots level. ⚡ Our work with the Early Learning Initiative ensures that parents and guardians of children from less advantaged socio-economic areas, are shown the skills needed to equip their children with the language and social skills to start school ready. ⚡ Our work with Teen-Turn, empowers teen girls to explore careers in STEM related areas ⚡ Our Mentoring, Time to Grow and Summer Work Placement Programme with Business in the Community Ireland provide students from DEIS schools with meaningful work experience to explore career paths, develop essential skills and insights for the working world. Please get in touch if you would like to contribute to these successes by breaking down barriers to education and creating pathways for success. At basis.point, we are not just supporting education—we are cultivating a more inclusive and equitable society. Check out how you can help here https://lnkd.in/eQjKS4Kr Thank you to John Madigan Daneve Harris, CIFD, QPT Lisa Martensson Gerard Scully Jennifer Fox for including us in this thought-provoking discussion. A new collaboration – Philanthropy and fine dining at it's best! One of Dublin’s favoured fine dining experience DAX is celebrating 20 years in Dublin. Olivier Meisonnave Dax Restaurant Owner, Proprietor and Restaurant Manager, feels passionately about education. He sees the crucial role that education can play to break the cycle of disadvantage. As part of his anniversary celebrations, he is keen to do what he can. And it seems the Irish Funds industry support of Olivier has not gone unnoticed. DAX restaurant is one of basis.point's first commercial partners and we are delighted to share that Olivier has decided to donate €3 per table served for the entire year of his 20th Anniversary! Dax is all about the warm welcome, the unforgettable food experience, the impeccable service and the fine wine list. So, if you are looking to entertain clients, friends or family in 2025, please bear in mind that every time you dine at DAX, Olivier will be giving back to the charity of the funds industry that has been so loyal to him over the years. A win win. #gratitude Eoin FitzGerald Clive Bellows Colm Clifford Declan O'Sullivan Eimear Cowhey Eimear O'Dwyer Pat Lardner Paul Kilcullen Eve Finn Frank Gannon Paul Daly Laura Trimble
