What does hearing with a cochlear implant sound like? In a recent study, Dorman et al. compared results from 10 recipients fitted with a long electrode array (28 mm) to recipients fitted with a short electrode array (18.5 mm) from a previous study. These types of matching experiments are invaluable for diagnosing and resolving technical issues with CIs, developing new coding strategies, and simulating the sound of CIs for normal hearing listeners.
