A splendid head dive! Manufacturing a formed piece that meets a client's specifications goes far beyond the simple forming operation. A formed part is part of an equipment and shall meet the same requirements as other components (such as shells). The quality of heat treatment is therefore crucial, especially for parts made from steel grades that require water quenching. Industeel heavy forming shop in Saint Chamond is equipped with heat treatment furnaces and a quenching tank (5m deep!) that allow us to treat large parts. We’re proud to share that Amtrol-Alfa, a business of Worthington Enterprises, has become the first company to manufacture pressure cylinders with our low carbon-emissions steel, and more specifically, hot-rolled, pickled #XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel.   “As a leader in pressure cylinder manufacturing, we committed to developing a steel cylinder with the lowest carbon footprint without reliance on carbon offsets,” said Tiago Oliveira, vice president of product development, Worthington Enterprises, Building Products. “We worked closely with ArcelorMittal to create a steel that has a 73 percent lower carbon footprint allowing us to produce more sustainable cylinders when compared to traditional steel cylinders and are fully compliant with regulatory standards.” Frederik Leus, XCarb® Business Development, ArcelorMittal Europe Flat Products – CMO Industry, said, “Steel is fundamental to the gas cylinder industry, and there is significant potential to lower the embodied carbon in production by substituting steel made via the conventional route with materials that have a reduced climate impact”. ❓ Curious to know how it’s made – A low carbon steel footbridge  👀 https://lnkd.in/defgckUn SOTTAS SA is building the first pedestrian footbridge in Switzerland made entirely of low carbon steel using ArcelorMittal's #XCarb® recycled and renewably produced heavy plates. This collaboration with SOTTAS SA is a milestone in sustainable construction, showcasing how innovative, low carbon solutions can meet demanding technical requirements while significantly reducing the environmental impact. The structure has been built in four separate welded sections with a total weight of 150 tonnes. It was lifted into place in one piece with a high-capacity 750 tonne crawler crane. ArcelorMittal welcomed a number of high-profile guests to its steel plant in Gent, Belgium today.    Hosted by ArcelorMittal Europe CEO Geert Van Poelvoorde, we discussed the state of the steel industry in Europe with Mrs Teresa Ribera, the European Commission’s Executive Vice-President for a Clean, Just and Competitive Transition and Mr Stéphane Séjourné, Executive Vice-President for Prosperity and Industrial Strategy. We were also delighted to welcome the Prime Minister of Belgium, Alexander De Croo, Flemish Minister-President Matthias Diependaele, the Mayor of Gent Mathias De Clercq, Alderman Sofie Bracke and a number of other guests.    Together with other steelmakers in Europe, in recent months we have spoken out on a number of issues that are profoundly affecting our ability to competitively produce steel in Europe today: a record high in steel imports, driven by significant global overcapacity and weak trade defence; high energy costs; and climate policy that does not currently provide the level playing field we need, at a time when we need to invest significant capital to decarbonise our steelmaking assets.    We would like to thank the Commissioners for coming to listen to us today. Putting the steel sector on their agendas for the first week in their new role is a positive sign and we hope that that this is the start of impactful change that will give us the sustainable future that we want for our European operations.
