The European Commission has published the 5-year evaluation report of ERNs and Healthcare Providers (HCPs), highlighting their achievements and identifying areas for future growth.
💪 Key strengths:
1️⃣ 100% of ERNs and 89.7% of HCP members achieved satisfactory results.
2️⃣ Top-performing areas include networking, dissemination, education, training, and clinical competence.
3️⃣ ERNs have demonstrated strong collaboration and a commitment to improving care across Europe.
4️⃣ ERNs have been instrumental in data sharing among all network members, with many ERNs establishing registries.
📈 While the results are promising, there are areas to improve to ensure the continued impact of ERNs:
1️⃣ Clinical Care: Enhance the implementation of guidelines, pathways, and protocols for consistent, evidence-based care.
2️⃣ Quality and Safety: Develop robust indicators to monitor and improve clinical processes and outcomes.
3️⃣ Patient-Centred Care: Introduce tools to measure patient and family experiences at Expert Centres.
4️⃣ Patient Partnership: Strengthen the role of patient representatives, standardise metrics to track their impact, and enhance tools for collaboration.
5️⃣ Resources: Ensure sustainable funding and recognise ERN-related work as part of professionals’ workloads.
