Alexander Casall participated in an exciting panel discussion “𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐜𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐲.” at Health Tech Forward last week. For those who missed the panel discussion, here are some key points that Alexander addressed, along with his perspectives on two key questions from the panel. 🌐 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞? 1. 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Interoperability refers to the ability of systems or organizations to interact seamlessly, minimizing user effort. This reduces the complexity for providers to install and maintain medical devices and simplifies workflows for healthcare professionals. 2. 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞: In fields like radiology and ophthalmology, interoperability is crucial for a smooth workflow that includes patient registration, image acquisition, diagnosis, and surgery planning. Without interoperability among systems (e.g., PACS, VNA, EMR), processes would require cumbersome manual efforts, such as using USB sticks for data transfer. 3. 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬: Standards like DICOM facilitate interoperability by enabling data exchange between different imaging modalities and IT systems from various vendors. This is essential for effective operation in imaging disciplines. 4. 𝐄𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬: The #SDC (Service Oriented Device Connectivity) standard is gaining traction, particularly in critical care settings like ICUs. It allows devices from different manufacturers to communicate, consolidating alarms and reducing noise, which can alleviate "Alarm Fatigue" among medical staff and patient care. 5. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧: Just as DICOM serves ophthalmology and radiology, SDC has the potential to transform interoperability in ICUs and surgical environments. 🧠 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐄𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐀𝐈 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬? In summary, interoperability standards are enablers that drive scalability in the creation of AI applications: 1. 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: AI applications rely heavily on data for training models and making inferences. To achieve practical use cases, data from various modalities is often required. 2. 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞: The data must possess a certain quality and structure to be effective for AI applications. 3. 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: These standards address data-related challenges, ensuring that diverse data sources can communicate and integrate effectively. 4. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧: Ultimately, interoperability acts as a crucial enabler for deploying AI technologies on a broader scale, facilitating access to high-quality, structured data necessary for AI model development and application. 💡 Learn more about #interoperability on our website: https://zeiss.ly/sdc-ws

We are thrilled to announce that our esteemed partner, GlobalFoundries Dresden, has been awarded the prestigious Automotive Lean Production Award in the Digital Use Case category! 🏆 This recognition not only highlights GlobalFoundries' commitment to innovation in semiconductor technology but also underscores the critical role our team played in driving this success and enhancing digital solutions within the automotive sector. At the Automotive Lean Production Award ceremony – held this Tuesday at Volkswagen Autoeuropa in Palmela, Portugal – GlobalFoundries received this honor for our groundbreaking "Heimdall" project, which focuses on "Predictive Maintenance." The "Heimdall" initiative, developed in close collaboration with our talented team, Telekom MMS and the Smart Systems Hub, utilizes advanced optical and acoustic systems, along with artificial intelligence (AI), to significantly enhance the quality and reliability of fully automated intralogistics at Fab 1, the largest semiconductor factory in Europe. The "Heimdall" project involves the collection and analysis of images and acoustic signals captured by the automated transport systems. By employing an intelligent evaluation logic based on a neural network, we empowered GlobalFoundries Dresden to proactively monitor the condition of transport vehicles and detect deviations early, allowing for timely interventions before issues escalate. The results of our collaborative efforts are impressive: the Mean Time Between Interrupts (MTBI) has improved by a factor of 2.15, and losses due to stalled transport vehicles have been reduced by 62%. Additionally, we have decreased extra maintenance efforts for corrective actions by approximately 8,000 hours, achieving a remarkable return on investment in just four months. This award is a testament to how our innovative solutions in Predictive Maintenance can revolutionize logistics and maintenance in the semiconductor industry. Together with GlobalFoundries, we continue to leverage digitalization to optimize processes, generate in-house knowledge, and strengthen our competitive edge. Exciting future developments, including the integration of vibration data and extensive Big Data utilization, are already in progress or in the planning stages. 🔗 Read more about the “Heimdall” project: https://lnkd.in/eryytpS4 🔗 Discover more about the winners: https://lnkd.in/exBH3Bta Photo credit: Volkswagen Autoeuropa #LeanProduction #DigitalInnovation #VisualInspection #ZDIManufacturingSolutions Agamus Consult
