🌟 Welcome Harald Dialer! Its great to have you with us as Executive Vice President, Technology and UPM Biorefining! 👏   Harald will lead UPM's innovative growth businesses for Biofuels and Biochemicals. 🧪 💹 He will also be responsible for the company’s Technology Organization and Innovation Management. 🔬 🥼   As UPM - The Biofore Company enters a next phase in its development, to go from transformation to growth, Harald will play a crucial tole in taking the fuels and chemicals business of the company to the next level. And he joins at a time that could not be more fascinating:   ✅ The start-up and ramp-up of the biorefinery in Leuna and the new Biochemicals business will be a key event for the overall development of UPM - and 2025 is crunchtime for this business.   ✅ The commercialization of the Leuna product portfolio requires full command of the value chains and it means to go beyond classical chemical sales to also address consumer brands and innovate entirely new, sustainable materials.   ✅ The role of advanced biofuels in decarbonizing transportation systems will grow in importance and UPM has a key role to play in this growing market amidst rapidly evolving regulation.   ✅ Growth means to think beyond what’s visible today and start preparing the possible next steps through focused innovation management, thorough R&D and an active role in the market.   ✅ Our long-term success will be built on a clear commercial agenda, excellence in running efficient operations and a strong, strategic position in the growing market for renewable fuels and chemicals.   All of this will be on our table – in 2025 and beyond. 🎊 Whoop, Whoop! We're back in pole position! Our UPM BioMotion™ Renewable Functional Fillers (RFF) are ranked Number One in the list of today's most significant #sustainability projects in the elastomers and rubber industry, awarded by the highly regarded European Rubber Journal. Our RFF are a new generation of wood-based, #sustainable, functional fillers, ready to replace fossil-based, highly CO2-intensive carbon-black and precipitated silica. We will produce our RFF at UPM's award-winning, first-of-its-kind biorefinery in Leuna, Germany. Together with Nokian Tyres plc, a leading developer and manufacturer of premium tires, we are set for an industry first with its concept tire partly based on UPM BioMotion™ Renewable Functional Fillers, which we launched at this year's DKT Rubber Conference in Nuremberg. We cannot wait and hope to welcome the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to our state-of-the-art biorefinery in Leuna soon. There, we will convert sustainably sourced, certified hardwood into next-generation biochemicals that will enable the vital shift away from fossil-based to renewable materials across various industries.

🎉We are thrilled to share that we have been shortlisted for the Sustainability Award at the Innovate Textile Awards 2024 🌟 This recognition highlights our dedication to creating sustainable solutions and our aim to help brands globally reduce their CO2 footprint. 🏭 At the #LeunaBiorefinery, which is starting up by the end of the year, advanced technology enables the production of bio-based chemicals with much lower carbon footprints compared to their fossil-based equivalents. One of our products, UPM BioPura™ renewable monoethylene glycol (BioMEG), can substitute the fossil-based version, which is a crucial raw material for polyesters used in shoe soles and textiles.
