Facing climate change, which is and will be increasingly impacting our lives, is the new challenge that the railways are also undertaking. We talked about it this evening at UEEIV: https://lnkd.in/dFJA6fSp Thomas Walter and Francisco Cabrera Jerónimo, keynote speakers on the subject, told us how these risks are being considered and how they are being addressed at the UIC level. My comment: some of the data and scenarios, despite long-term, are truly (negativ) impressive. The problem is that there is no going back and there is no place in the world, where you can avoid it! Si è conclusa ieri la seconda giornata del convegno internazionale “The Future of Railway Interoperability: 25 Years of Experience and Innovative Strategies” organizzato a Sofia in Bulgaria 🇧🇬 dall’Associazione degli Ingegneri Ferroviari Europei UEEIV alla quale aderisce il CIFI - Italian Railway Engineers Association Durante questo evento, introdotto dalla Ministra bulgara dei Trasporti e delle Comunicazioni Krasimira Stoyanova, esperti del settore hanno esplorato il ruolo dell’European Union Agency for Railways e l’importanza dell’interoperabilità ferroviaria, con un focus particolare sui corridoi TEN-T e sulla loro capacità di connettere la rete ferroviaria europea. Il secondo giorno è stato arricchito da una visita al cantiere della nuova linea ferroviaria bulgara, la sezione tra Elin Pelin e Kostenetz. Questo progetto rappresenta la sfida tecnica più complessa della tratta Sofia-Plovdiv, richiedendo la costruzione di tunnel moderni che possano garantire i requisiti europei di interoperabilità. Gli scavi dei tunnel avanzano secondo il Nuovo Metodo Austriaco di Tunneling (NATM). L’interoperabilità ferroviaria permette di sbloccare le potenzialità delle reti ferroviarie europee, favorendo una connessione sicura e veloce tra tutti gli Stati membri.

Sono contento di aver preso parte al Railway forum Sofia 2024 organizzato dal UEEIV con la partecipazione del CIFI - Italian Railway Engineers Association. È stata una grande occasione per "guardare oltre il confine", la possibilità di osservare concretamente le azioni di sviluppo e progresso di altri paesi membri per la realizzazione di opere attraverso nuove costruzioni e ammodernamenti. Il convegno si è distinto in una parte espositiva la quale ha dato modo di ribadire quella che è la direzione unitaria della standardizzazione europea, ponendo come punto chiave le STI e la volontà dell' ERA nel continuare a lavorare per un sistema ferroviario sempre più connesso e sicuro. Il ministro dei trasporti e delle comunicazioni Krasimira Stoyanova col suo intervento ha chiarito la posizione del governo bulgaro di voler puntare sempre più sul trasporto su ferro attraverso le nuove opere in programma, destinate ad essere un elemento strategico per la connessione interbalcanica tra Serbia- Turchia e Romania-Grecia. La seconda parte dell'evento ha avuto luogo nel cantiere per l'ammodernamento ferroviario tra la sezione di Elim Pelin-Kostenetz. Abbiamo avuto l'opportunità di vedere in campo le nuove tecniche di costruzione della galleria che sarà sfruttata per il collegamento tra Sofia e Plovdiv, confrontandoci con gli ingegneri e gli esperti del settore che ci hanno ospitato nel loro campo base. Un'esperienza molto interessante e formativa che ha permesso di scambiare idee e punti di vista con i colleghi del settore.

We know that we have invested a lot in the last decades, but we still have a lot of potential for #improvement. This is the other side of our #Europe, made up of so many differences, cultures and strong traditions. UEEIV brought us together on 08-09.11 in the beautiful city of #Sofia to exchange some thoughts on the state of play of the ongoing work to promote #interoperability and interconnection between Europe's railways. The #railways are doing a lot, but especially at the national borders, both in terms of #infrastructure and of #trains running, the margins for growth and optimisation are still substantial. The important task that each of us now takes home is to investigate the existing areas of improvement, to identify possible solutions and to set out, in his own small as #company context or/and as a member of #railway associations, a path of ambitious and coordinated growth. In my own small way, I learnt a lot in these two intense days, because, among other things: ·        I could experience from first-hand how much Bulgarian Railways is doing strategically, planning and concretely to develop its network; ·        I was able to talk to and connect with many colleagues from different countries who, like me, believe in rail and public #transportation; ·        I have seen how welcoming Bulgarians are and how they like to manage intense work with the necessary moments of fun and socialisation. Becoming interoperable requires, above all, the necessary #mindset and willingness in people and an openness, respect, understanding, sharing and implementation of the positive things our partners have and do. Already being able to accelerate this mindset change and to strengthen central coordination are, and will be, great achievements. But we believe in it and ... we are moving forward!
