🎆 5 easy steps to reflect on the past year 🎆 Every year teaches us something new. With the new year just around the corner, reflect on the lessons you’ve learned this year and think about how you can carry them forward into the new year. So, as 2025 approaches, take a moment to… ✔️Identify your lessons from 2024: Write down three things that went well and three things that didn’t in 2024. Try to look at both minor things as well as the big picture. ✔️ Adjust your strategy: Ask yourself: What should I keep doing? How can I do better? Find strategies to address your pain points – and be proud of yourself for what you did well! ✔️ Write down 3 skills to learn in 2025: Look at your strengths and areas for growth and pick three key skills you want to develop in the new year. Pick something specific, but manageable. ✔️ Rethink your habits: Which daily routines made your life easier? Which ones slowed you down? In 2025, add just one positive spin to your day. ✔️ Be thankful for the little things: Take a moment to appreciate how far you’ve come. What are the small wins in 2024? Celebrate your growth, however small it may seem. New Year’s resolutions might come and go, but a lesson learned is a tool for life. What’s your biggest takeaway from 2024? #mindsetchange #modernworkplace #myovb

🎄 Stuck at work between the holidays? 🎄 Not everyone is working between the holidays, but if you are, why not make the most of it? In most fields, there will be less to do around this time, so use this week to your advantage: ⭐ Wrap up unfinished tasks: This is your chance to clear out your inbox and tie up loose ends. Start 2025 with a clean slate to focus on what really matters come January. ⭐ Brainstorm big ideas: With fewer distractions and a slower pace, this is an ideal time to think creatively. Reflect on your goals for the new year, explore new opportunities, and brainstorm ways to improve. ⭐ Reflect and recharge: It’s important to remember that productivity isn’t always about doing more. Use this time to reflect on your achievements, recalibrate your goals, and recharge. Taking a moment to pause can help you return to work in January with renewed energy and a clearer focus. While winding down is a valid option, why not also use the quieter days as a stepping stone for the new year. By making the most of this time, you’ll set yourself up for a more successful and balanced 2025. What’s on your to-do list as you close out the year? Let us know below! #mindsetchange #modernworkplace #myovb

🌟 Navigating Career Decisions: Flexibility vs. Structure 🌟 Unsure where you want your career to go? One place to start is to think whether you’re drawn to a more flexible and self-organised workstyle or a more traditional, structured approach. Understanding the benefits of each path is key to overcoming career indecision. 👉 The Flexible Approach A flexible career path offers room to explore and adapt as you learn more about yourself. It allows you to follow passions, act on spontaneous ideas, and take opportunities that emerge along the way. While it can be uncertain, it’s perfect for those who love variety and new experiences. 👉 The Traditional Approach A traditional career path offers a clear, linear trajectory with a defined structure. It’s great for those who value stability and progression. This approach allows you to build expertise in one area and climb the ladder at a steady pace. Finding the right career path is about understanding your preferences and balancing flexibility with stability. Want more tips on how to make the right decision? ⏳ Looking back to move forward: Embrace the bigger picture ⏳ When it comes to career development, there’s great value in listening to those who’ve been in the workforce for years, reflecting on what helped them succeed and grow. That’s why we asked Dietmar Bracht, Director Marketing Services at OVB Holding, for his point of view after being with the company for 25 years in various positions and functions. As one of his main talking points, he highlighted the importance of clear communication. “Don’t wait for things to happen. Communicate what you want, why you want it, and show that you’re willing to work for it. Good leaders will notice that ambition and help you move forward.” Career progress often requires a willingness to go the extra mile and take on challenges — even when they push you outside your comfort zone. Another key piece of advice: “Understanding the bigger picture is essential for success.” He believes that, especially in larger corporate structures, it’s easy to lose sight of what’s happening on the ground level. But truly getting to know the entire business is key to making good decisions and identifying opportunities for growth. Finally, Dietmar Bracht encouraged everyone to take advantage of the growth opportunities in their current company. “If the conditions are right—if you feel valued, supported, and can grow—there’s no reason to leave. Stick around, learn, and be proud of what you’re doing.” What’s the one thing you wish you’d known earlier in your career? Share your thoughts below! 💬 #mindsetchange #modernworkplace #myovb

🎁 Assistant Santas on a mission 🎁 Let’s continue our tradition: Like the last eight years, we want to make the wishes of some children from families with limited resources come true. That’s why we partnered again with Der Sommerberg AWO Betriebsgesellschaft mbH, an organisation for people and families with diverse needs, and set up a Christmas tree with 43 children’s wish lists in our Colognian entrance area. Now, every OVB Holding and OVB Vermögensberatung AG employee could pick a wish from the tree, get it for the respective child, and put the wrapped gift under the tree. Yesterday, the gifts were brought over to AWO Der Sommerberg where they will hopefully let the children’s eye shine 😍 Leave a like for all our assistant Santa Clauses for their willingness to help 🎅👏 Thank you! 📸 Credits: OVB Holding AG #mindsetchange #modernworkplace #myovb

⏳ Looking back to move forward: Choose your mentors wisely ⏳ Reflecting on our careers can often teach us valuable lessons that can help us shape our future. That’s why this week we asked Manuel Schindler, Senior European Product Manager at OVB Holding, a simple question: what piece of advice would you send back to your past self? "Trust in your mentors, but also recognise when they no longer help you move forward," he named as his key message. In his experience, a great mentor not only believes in you but invests time and energy to help you grow at your own pace. "Choose mentors who have expertise, but also the ability to guide and motivate you on a personal level," he explained. Furthermore, "it's not enough to simply receive advice from a mentor—you have to actively apply their tips." Another important takeaway from his 18 years of professional experience: "Focus on what matters most and don’t get caught up in perfectionism." He pointed out that he relies on the Pareto principle, which states that 80% of the results are achieved with 20% of the total effort. "Prioritise tasks that make the most impact. Getting things to a good enough state that others can reliably work with them is often enough." And finally: "Even in a professional setting like finance, you need to bring your personality and humour to the table." It’s not just about technical skills but also about who you are as a person that makes you valuable in any team. What piece of career advice would you give your younger self? Share it with us below! 💬 #mindsetchange #modernworkplace #myovb
