In recognition of her excellent research work, Prof. Dr. Angkana Rüland receives the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize, which is endowed with 2.5 million euros. Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - German Research Foundation announced this today. The mathematician at the #ClusteofExcellence Hausdorff Center for Mathematics is being recognized for her outstanding work in mathematical analysis, particularly on models for microstructures in phase transitions in solids and inverse problems with non-local operators. The highly endowed prize permits a large degree of freedom in research. 𝟮𝟬 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗻𝗼𝘀𝗼𝘃 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 Since their introduction in François Labourie's seminal 2004 paper, Anosov representations have been a driving force in the study of discrete subgroups of higher-rank Lie groups, and have helped to stimulate two decades of research in the area. In partnership with the Clay Mathematics Institute, we celebrated 20 years of progress in the field with a conference and Young Researchers Workshop which brought together researchers studying the geometric, dynamical, and algebraic aspects of Anosov representations, as well as their connections to other topics. The Clay lecture was given by François Labourie from the Université Côte d'Azur, France on the topic “Double uniformisations’ cousin: complex projective spaces and anti de Sitter space”. In this interview with Xenia Flamm and Jeff Danciger, he provides insights into the interplay between geometry and dynamics, reflecting on the history of a paper whose concept became highly influential in the field of research, as well as his personal journey in mathematics, his promotion of young scientists, and the role of the mathematical community. 🎥 https://lnkd.in/ejtMVZwV

Lively discussions: Mathematicians and physicists at the workshop “Holonomic Techniques for Feynman Integrals" exchange ideas through inspiring talks and poster presentations. Kajal Singh from the University of Liverpool discusses "Fermionic Correlators in (A)dS: Loops, Recursions, and Soft Limits" with Johannes Henn (Max Planck Institute for Physics) and Bernd Sturmfels (Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences). #UNIVERSEPlus #particlephysics #mathematics #positivegeometry

UNIVERSE+ says hello on LinkedIn for the first time: Welcome to our official channel! We are kicking off with the UNIVERSE+ Workshop "Holonomic Techniques for Feynman Integrals,” hosted at the Max Planck Institute for Physics (MPP). Johannes Henn from MPP, Anna-Laura Sattelberger from the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences, and Hofie Hannesdottir from the Institute for Advanced Study are organizing this workshop to advance the mathematical and physical understanding of Feynman integrals. Experts from both fields - mathematics and physics - come together to establish deeper connections between the two disciplines. Mathematician Ruth Britto from Trinity College Dublin opened the program with an exciting presentation on "Parametric Cycles.” A full week of scientific talks and discussions lies ahead, and we look forward to exchanging ideas in this flourishing field of research. https://lnkd.in/e2JjyjUE #UNIVERSEPlus #mathematics #particlephyscis #colliderphysics #positivegeometry
