This week, our CTO, Sam French, represented MorGen Energy participating in the Leveraging Investment and Driving Innovation panel at Hydrogen for Life 2024, held in London. The panel, chaired by James McKeigue, brought together industry leaders such as Carl Arntzen of Worcester Bosch and Dr Noorzaman Rashid of the Centre for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence to address some of the challenges and opportunities in the hydrogen sector. Sam provided several key insights during the session. He emphasised the importance of incentivising off-takers to transition to hydrogen. While the UK's current subsidy scheme, the Hydrogen Allocation Round, is among the most advanced globally, it primarily targets the supply side. It is crucial to recognise the risks involved in making this switch, and companies that take the lead in this transition should be encouraged and rewarded. A big thank you to the organisers of Hydrogen for Life 2024 for creating such a fantastic platform for collaboration and thought leadership in the hydrogen market. #GreenHydrogen #Sustainability #Innovation #MorGenEnergy #H4life #UK

Yesterday, Rasmus Bach Nielsen, Board Member of MorGen Energy ApS, participated in the Dutch-Danish Forum on Hydrogen Cooperation in Copenhagen. They had the honour of meeting His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, His Majesty King Frederik of Denmark, Dutch Minister for Climate and Green Growth Sophie Hermans, Danish Minister for Climate, Energy, and Utilities Lars Aagaard, as well as Lars Sandahl Sørensen, Director General and CEO of Danish Industry, Troels Ranis, Deputy Director at Danish Industry, and Kristian Jensen, CEO of Green Power Denmark. The discussions centred on the future of the Danish Power-to-X industry and the pivotal role MorGen Energy is playing in advancing the hydrogen transition across Europe. To progress effectively, we expressed the need to reduce the current booking commitment from 800 MW to 600 MW, creating an achievable requirement. The existing 800 MW capacity requirement is unrealistic and poses challenges, as it requires other producers to make investment decisions simultaneously, leading to delays in investment and project readiness. Additionally, the hydrogen pipeline, now rescheduled for completion in 2031, could hinder Denmark’s green energy objectives and should be aligned with Germany’s anticipated demand for green hydrogen in 2028-2029. Germany has committed EUR 19 billion to repurposing existing gas pipelines and constructing new hydrogen infrastructure, confirming strong market demand. This hydrogen is expected to be produced using Danish wind power. We are committed to establishing hydrogen as a viable energy source in Denmark, with our 1GW Njordkraft project poised to build the foundation for Denmark’s hydrogen industry and pave the way for further green energy initiatives across the continent.

We are delighted to announce our participation in the Dutch-Danish Offtake Declaration on Green Hydrogen, signed today in Copenhagen. This agreement unites Danish and Dutch leaders to advance Europe's green hydrogen market. The Netherlands, currently Europe's second-largest hydrogen consumer at 1.3 million tonnes annually, anticipates demand to rise to 4.5 million tonnes by 2050, with expanding applications in steel production, high-temperature industries, heavy-duty transport, maritime, and aviation sectors. Denmark's leadership in renewable energy positions it as a key exporter of green hydrogen to Europe. Already by 2028 Denmark can produce certified green hydrogen through MorGen Energy's Njordkraft project, a 1 GW green hydrogen production facility in Esbjerg, Denmark. The Dutch and Danish industries are ready to deliver on both EU and national green hydrogen targets. The availability of competitive green hydrogen, at scale, in time, is key in fueling the transition.
