🌞 Exciting News from KfW IPEX-Bank! 🌞 We are thrilled to announce our financing for a groundbreaking solar and energy storage project in Osceola, Arkansas, led by the newly formed Green & Clean Power LLC (GCP). The innovative facility will feature a behind-the-meter 105MW solar installation paired with a 160MWh battery energy storage system, initially powering the adjacent Hybar, a scrap metal recycling steel rebar mill. GCP is expected to supply approximately 40% of Hybar’s total annual power consumption, ensuring that provided the right conditions the electricity being used to run the mill is generated from 100% renewable sources. This positions Hybar as a leader in sustainable steel production, with some of the lowest emissions in the industry. GCP has raised approximately $300 million in debt and equity financing for this purpose, with KfW IPEX-Bank contributing around $165 million in construction debt financing. Dr Velibor Marjanovic, Member of the Management Board of KfW IPEX-Bank, emphasized the importance of sustainable steel production in global decarbonization efforts. “After financing the Hybar rebar mill in 2023, we’re delighted to support the clean power supply for this flagship project, reinforcing our commitment to a carbon-neutral future.” Ari Levy, Partner at Global Principal Partners and CFO of both GCP and Hybar, noted, “Access to renewable energy was a major component of Hybar’s mission and we appreciate the commitment of KfW IPEX-Bank, ATRS and the investment group that supported Hybar as we launch Green & Clean Power.” Together, we are paving the way for a greener future! 🌍💚 Read more: https://lnkd.in/dUEUJe2z

⭐ State of the art in corporate financing ⭐ Congratulations Structured FINANCE conference in Stuttgart – the leading event for modern corporate finance with the highest presence of financial decision-makers in Germany celebrated its 20th anniversary event! KfW IPEX-Bank experts from the Industries and Commerce sector including Global Head Wolfgang Behler shared their expertise at a trade fair stand, and Stefan Eitel delivered a Focus Talk on the new Climate UFK (‘Untied Loans’) introduced at the end of 2023 which supports transformation projects and provides additional support opportunities for ‘green’ investments for German companies abroad. “As early as the 1950s, the German ECA instruments established a product that was not tied to exports, the Untied Loan Facility (UFK), which aims to incentivize imports of raw materials to Germany on the basis of long-term purchase agreements instead of promoting German exports” explains Stefan. “The UFK has proven itself over the decades and was supplemented in autumn 2023 by the additional variant of the ‘Climate UFK’. This aims to take account of the current global challenges of climate change and energy transition in that it is intended in particular to help close the supply gap in German industry for green energy sources such as green hydrogen, ammonia, methanol and battery technologies.” However, the Climate UFK goes even further and is generally open to supporting German companies in international business transactions. This very broad formulation leaves plenty of scope for creative concepts to support transformation projects by German companies in their international corporate structures and value chains. If you would like to learn more about the potential of the Climate UFK, please contact Stefan Eitel. #SF2024 #CorporateFinance #StructuredFinance #Unternehmensfinanzierung #UFK #RawMaterials #IPEX
