Time flies! 🦋 This Tuesday we concluded, after 8 modules, our open Mindfulness-Based Sustainable Transformation journey. It has been an inspiring experience to witness the incredible wisdom within this group of #changemakers, #systems agents, and #peacebuilders. Together, we have explored the paths to co-creating a regenerative, green, and fair society. Listening to their reflections on what has shifted within them has been profoundly moving. Step by step, the sense of their calling became clearer, it emerged with greater resonance, and their actions began to ripple through their ecosystems. As facilitators, we are deeply humbled by their feedback and the insights participants have shared. These moments remind us that this journey is always reciprocal—we learn just as much from our participants as they learn from us. Thank you Liane Stephan and Grattan for leading this cohort! This 8-module long journey is a prerequisite to be able to join our teacher training, which will start in May 2025. ⭐ Our next open course starts in February 2025. 🌿 Transformative Journeys with the Mindfulness-Based Sustainable Transformation Programme 🌿 This week, we dove into Module 6: Collaboration with the Regular Programme and Module 8: Integration of the Mindfulness-Based Sustainable Transformation for the Teacher Training. Together, we explored the power of collaboration, how we can create safe spaces, our call to action for a regenerative future, and the main learnings from this journey. We took time to write, draw, and share reflections from these journeys. Here are a few profound words from our participants: 💬 “This course is a transformative experience to discover how each of us is a heart of the Earth (or life), and how each moment we live is a heartbeat of the planet. Discovering this, we touch how powerful we are and the delicious responsibility we carry.” Emmanuel Faure 💬 “Reconnecting with nature feels like being a child again." Lucía Salas Muñoz 💬 “From nature walks, I am learning to be aware of the beauty of life and the playful conversations of birds.” 💬 “Transformation takes time, and the spaciousness between sessions, allows us to cultivate it.” Patrick Mc Namara 💬 “My life is now a handprint project: when I bring awareness to my actions, change becomes simple and easy, and I can create one or another world. “ 💬 “When I understand what we are an ecosystem beyond my cognitive thinking, I can feel what it really means in my body. ” Elena Rusci 💬 “The connections I’ve made in this course fill me with inspiration, joy, and support. We are small streams of a big and wise river, coming together to nurture our ecosystem.” ✨ These reflections remind us of the incredible power of inner transformation and community to spark meaningful outer change. Are you ready to experience this transformation yourself? 🌍 We’re thrilled to announce that next year’s MBST cohort applications are open now! 👉 Visit our website to learn more and register your interest (link in comments). 🌍 What does it truly mean to lead in response to the ecological challenges of our time? It means more than just addressing problems—it means placing the Earth at the center of our actions, honoring her as a living, sacred presence, and inspiring others to do the same. Today, we stand at a pivotal moment. Our global challenges cannot be solved by technology or governments alone. We need something deeper, a collective transformation and cultural shift, to remember the connection between ourselves, others, and nature. The Mindfulness-Based Sustainable Transformation (MBST) Teacher Training program offers the tools to help you guide and empower others—to cultivate the mindsets and skills essential for sustainability and meaningful action. 💡 What will you gain? ✔️ Develop skills and mindsets for sustainability. ✔️ Learn practices that inspire individual and collective climate action. ✔️ Address #climate anxiety and nurture resilience. Join a global community of #changemakers—a space to explore, learn, and grow together. This programme is grounded in an evidence-based framework developed by Prof. Dr. Christine Wamsler of Lund University and the Center for Sustainability Studies. 💻 If you want more info, join our info webinar! 📅 When? 04 December, 18:00 - 19:00 CET 📌 Registration link in the comments. A very strong end to season 4 of the Inner Green Deal podcast with Daniel Christian Wahl, author of the seminal work "Designing Regenerative Cultures"! Daniel talks about the nature of regenerative cultures and what the world might look like if that were the dominant model for our societies. Regenerative cultures recognise the individuality of a given place and the people in it. One of the problems that has come with the drive towards globalization is that we’ve lost our connection to place and relationship to the local ecosystem. And the only way to heal the planet is to do so place by place by place, you can’t start by healing the planet - says Daniel. Yet, despite the specific nature of the local ecosystem, there are common principles to follow: working with nature and being a beneficial species in the ecosystems we inhabit as homo-sapiens rather than being degenerative on both the local ecosystems and the planetary biosphere. A fascinating conversation with Daniel starting of with his personal experience about his time as a young boy at his grandmother's house on a Mediterranean hill. Go and have a listen :). If you enjoyed this episode, please consider subscribing to our podcast or leaving a review. In doing so you make it easier for people to discover our podcast. We thank you for your support. Our podcast is hosted and produced by Tamsin Walker. Executive producer is IGD co-founder Jeroen Janss. For more information, visit us on innergreendeal.com or write to info@innergreendeal.com. In the four years since it has been running, the Inner Green Deal podcast has been entirely self-funded and we are committed to keeping it that way, which means commercials-free. To live up to this ambition, we are inviting you to support us. Every contribution, however small, makes a difference and allows us to continue sharing inspiring stories that highlight how understanding what is going inside can help in tackling the climate crisis. The Inner Green Deal at COP29 Azerbaijan! Co-founder Jeroen Janss presented the Community Handprint: now a UN Climate Change Global Innovation Project to accelerate local climate action through community building and inner development. Building capacity (Inner Handprint) to accelerate local action (Outer Handprint)! Very grateful for the great partnership with the Inner Development Goals, together bringing the power of inner development to the heart of international climate politics. Big thank you to the entire UN Climate Change Global Innovation Hub (UGIH) led by Massamba Thioye and to 🦜 Laila Martins for bringing us all together! #NeverGiveUp. #Community #ThereIsMoreInUS
Thrilled to share our Community Handprint project at COP29 Azerbaijan! As a UN Climate Change Global Innovation Project, we shared our approach for accelerating local climate action through community building and inner development. Very grateful for the partnership between the Inner Green Deal and the Inner Development Goals, together bringing the power of inner development to the heart of international climate politics. While a single presentation at a busy Climate Conference might not change everything, partnering with the UN—which earlier this year recognized our project as a UN Climate Change Global Innovation Project —inspires us to push further. A big thank you to Massamba Thioye, Nitin Arora, Sylvia Otieno, Karla Solis-Garcia, Nivya PC and many others from the UGIH Community for their support and strong belief in the values of Caring, Sharing, and Daring! Want to help integrate behavior change and inner development into the global UN agenda? Reach out to 🦜 Laila Martins to get involved. Last month, 🦜 Laila Martins, Jamie Bristow, Klaus Mertens, Helena Harnik, MBA, Jeroen Janss and many others facilitated a full day of innovation workshops at the Inner Development Goals (#IDGs) Summit, producing 18 projects aimed at integrating inner development into climate mitigation and adaptation processes in cities worldwide. The most promising of these projects will be submitted to the UN Climate Change Global Innovation Hub (UGIH) and might also become Global Innovation Projects. Looking forward to further collaborations and impactful work together! #COP29 #Sustainability Liane Stephan, Jan Artem Henriksson, Åsa Jarskog, Katharina Moser, Daniel Hires 🌍, Tomas Björkman, Kathleen Melis, Valentine Goblet, Nina Bressler, Christoph Schönherr, Alex Alexandrou, Lieven Callewaert, Ivy de Bruijn ✯, Kees Froeling, Katharina Buchgeister, Lettemieke Mulder, Molly Stevenson, Acacia Smith, Marion Birnstill, Tamsin Walker.

Happy to play our role in bringing the Inner Development Goals to the key events this fall! For those who speak Dutch, check out the #SystemShakers conference in Gent on November 14 where our co-founder @Jeroen Janss will speak. Later this week, we will be speaking at #COP29 about the IDGs as well as our UN Climate Change Innovation Project the "Community Handprint". And last month we spoke at the IMPACT FESTIVAL in Frankfurt as well as the #IDGSummit in Stockholm. Great to see first hand the reactions from people in these different places. Today someone in our Conscious Food Systems Alliance Leadership program was saying, "thanks to the IDGs, I now have a sense of direction and know where to start. Previously I felt I could do more but was overwhelmed by the many possibilities for inner development". All this gives us hope that we are on the right track! Join us! #ActiveHope
🧠 Intelligence of #Emotions Our third module of the Mindfulness-Based Sustainable Transformation program took us deep into the emotional terrain of our current #environmental and #climate #crisis. It was an intense exploration of what it means to truly feel and face the state of our world. We reflected on the emotions that are triggered by the unfolding crisis—grief, #anxiety, fear, even anger—and how these feelings can shape our behaviors. We discussed eco-anxiety, recognizing it as a profoundly healthy human reaction that reflects just how much we care about our natural world and all living beings. 🌱Yet, how do we regulate these strong emotions without feeling overwhelmed? 🌱How do we address the inner critical voices that fuel our distress and lead us to states of hopelessness or despair? In our exploration, we learned the power of creating a compassionate relationship with our unpleasant emotions. Self-compassion isn’t about dismissing the pain but rather holding it kindly, acknowledging that our inner struggles are a mirror of our societal condition. Inner and outer truly echo each other. This brings us to a crucial insight: because #inner and #outer are #inseparable, the changes we cultivate within ourselves can ripple outward. When we practice self-compassion, courage, and mindfulness, we have the potential to echo those changes into the world around us, contributing to a more compassionate and resilient #society. 🌱Have you experienced eco-anxiety or other strong emotions related to the climate crisis? 🌱How have you managed to hold space for them in your life? Liane Stephan Grattan Donnelly
