In our Special Session "Our Industry’s Innovative Approach to Sustainability & Recycling" we, and other industry partners, will introduce the Sustainable Optical Fiber and Cable Industry Alliance (SOFIA). ℹ️ SOFIA is an industry initiative focused on promoting sustainability throughout the optical fiber and cable value chain through increased collaboration. A fiber drawn by Corning Incorporated from our preform was used by KDDI Corporation in a test with five spans of 115 km. Essential for such long spans: low-loss fiber, low-loss fanout and low-loss splicing techniques.
