✨ Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay, and definitely a topic close to my heart.    I think we can all agree that modern life comes with an incredible amount of stress. Whether you're an adult working in a fast paced job with high levels of expectation to perform, juggling family life or caring for aging relatives, or a child at school in this digital age, navigating the world of social media as a teenager. Anxiety seems to be on the rise across all generations for many different reasons.    One of my passions is cinema. And one of the films I've seen this year was Inside Out 2. On the face of it, a film for kids (I do love a Disney film and not ashamed to admit it!); but it resonated so profoundly with me as an adult, I'd urge everyone to see it. It sent me right back to my childhood when mental health wasn't necessarily as recognised as it is today. Particularly if you have kids approaching high school age, getting phones for the first time, and starting to experience more complex emotions like anxiety, it's really powerful. Definitely worth watching!   On a personal level, I've always suffered from imposter syndrome which took hold during my school years (not that I was aware of it at the time). In my earlier career, anxiety related to that could be crippling. I used to think I was only achieving good results because I was lucky, or someone else laid the foundations for me to be successful, and that I'd be "found out" as not being good enough if I didn't work harder, smarter, achieving more and more. The best thing my manager at the time at Page Group did was help me to understand that I did in fact suffer from this, and teach me how to embrace it and turn it into a strength. I am naturally driven to meet deadlines and I do have a fear of failure; as long as I remember to recognise my achievements, learn from my mistakes, and congratulate myself on a job well done, it's actually become one of my biggest strengths that drives me to do my best. And I'm much kinder to myself these days as a result!   All fast-paced roles can cause stress and anxiety, and it's important to have an emotionally intelligent manager who knows you well and manages you as an individual, and not just a number. I believe all firms have a duty of care to their employees, not just in recruitment, but in all types of businesses.   So, a big shout out to all people managers who take their team's mental health into account, adapting your style to the individual. You're the best type of manager in my eyes. 💕

✨ The Laver Cup has been played in Berlin over the weekend. As a huge tennis fan, it's one of my most favourite tournaments to watch as it brings all the best players together to play as a team - Team Europe versus the Rest of the World. It was thrilling to watch my favourite player, Sascha Zverev, winning his singles match yesterday to keep Team Europe in with a shot of winning (which they did!). Epic scenes as he shone in front of his home crowd! 🏆 It left such a positive energy in me as I start my fourth week of Hauser Recruiting. These athletes are usually fierce competitors in the singles game, and it was wonderful to see them play on this rare occasion as a team, laughing, joking and showing mutual respect for each other's talents. In recruitment, ultimately candidates compete to get jobs, and companies compete for the best candidates. And it doesn't hurt to have someone cheering you on and helping you reach your goals. I see my job as a recruiter as giving candidates the support, advice and encouragement you need to open doors to the right opportunities and then helping you to promote yourself to the best of your ability. Companies often need their roles being elevated in the market place to make them stand out, and when you partner with a recruiter who knows your company and your brand, this can help you find the best talent. ✨ For my UK recruitment network - this could be interesting for you! Yesterday I spent the day in the beautiful city of London attending my first quarterly event with the TEAM Network, an organisation run by independent recruiters for independent recruiters.  What a wonderful group of people in one room!  Being a part of TEAM has given me the support and infrastructure needed to start and run a business; but more than that, everyone is exceptionally likeminded, collaborative, friendly, and committed to running recruitment businesses in the right way - to provide an exceptional service and to keep enhancing the recruitment profession across the UK and internationally.
