Users across Europe are used to the satellite imagery from the Maxar WorldView Legacy satellites: GeoEye-1, WorldView-1, WorldView-2 and WorldView-3. How does WorldView Legion compare to them? In almost all parameters, the satellites are very similar. The resolution of WorldView Legion is very high (30 cm), the image width is 10 km, and the life expectancy is around 10 years. The geolocational accuracy of the imagery remains unmatched, offering the same high-quality performance customers have come to expect from Maxar’s WorldView-3: CE90 <5 m / 1.5 m RMSE. #ittakesalegion #satellitetechnology #geospatial

12 months, 12 images of the month. Or more? At the beginning of each month, we send a newsletter that includes one satellite image as the desktop background wallpaper. But sometimes it’s a difficult decision, and we have many beautiful images that we never end up using. So now we’re sharing all of our favourites – both the ones we used and the ones we didn’t. Which one is the best? 👇 Satellite imagery © 2024 Maxar Technologies provided by European Space Imaging #remotesensing #earthobservation #satelliteimages

What’s new with Maxar WorldView Legion? 🛰️ The first four satellites are in the orbit. 🛰️ Two of them are already receiving commercial orders. 🛰️ They operate at 30 cm-class resolution and 1.5 m <RMSE accuracy with 8 spectral bands. These images were collected by WorldView Legion in September. 👇 Satellite imagery © 2024 Maxar Technologies provided by European Space Imaging #ittakesalegion #satelliteimages #aerospaceindustry #satellite

This satellite imagery shows the catastrophic damage after the Tropical Cyclone Chido that devastated the French territory of Mayotte in the Indian Ocean. Thousands of houses, buildings, and critical infrastructure have been destroyed while many other structures have been significantly damaged and are missing roofs. At the Dzaoudzi-Pamandzi International Airport, several aircraft hangars have sustained wind damage, and some are destroyed. The images were collected yesterday (16 December) by our partner, Maxar Technologies. Hyperspectral imaging for water quality monitoring 🌊 With a wavelength range of 400–2500 nm, Pixxel's upcoming hyperspectral satellites can capture hundreds of spectral bands and provide deep insights into the Earth’s surface water bodies. They can help you: 👉 Accurately detect algal species, HABs, excessive nutrient inputs, chlorophyll, and other pigments and contaminants. 👉 Determine the level of turbidity and murkiness. 👉 Monitor the growth of aquatic autotrophs. 👉 Evaluate the thickness and emulsion rate of oil spills. 👉 Understand and appropriately address the potential risk of emerging contaminants, such as pharmaceuticals or endocrine-disrupting chemicals. As a result, you can detect critical areas, monitor emerging hazards, and mitigate harmful impacts on both human and environmental health – with high accuracy, in difficult-to-access and ecologically sensitive locations, and with a reduced need for ground infrastructure. The images below show the concentration of chlorophyll-a and other pigments in a lake, which pinpoints bloom-prone zones. 📧 Contact us for more information on Pixxel and their upcoming satellites. #hyperspectral #satelliteimagery #remotesensing #waterpollution #cleanwater
