ECSA and ECS are leaving X The decision stems from significant ethical and practical concerns involving the management of the platform. Our social media Follow us on Bluesky: @ecsa.ngo and @ecs.ngo Facebook: @ECSAcommunity and @EUCitSciProject Instagram: @ecsa_community and @eucitsciproject Read more here: https://lnkd.in/ecGP4CJa Since Elon Musk acquired the platform, X has shifted focus, prioritising profit over fundamental values like safety and inclusivity. Many previously basic free features have been locked behind a paywall, reducing accessibility. These changes undermine the values ECSA and ECS stand for, and we believe it is no longer a space that aligns with our mission or serves our community effectively. Our decision also echoes the concerns and decisions of many organisations and individuals who are now taking the same path as us. The European Commission has opened formal proceedings to assess whether X may have breached the Digital Services Act (DSA) in areas linked to risk management, content moderation, dark patterns, advertising transparency and data access for researchers. We’ll keep our X accounts active over the coming weeks, and progressively stop publishing on it until the end of January 2025. After this point the accounts will be frozen, but not deleted: this is to preserve an archive of our previous news, stories, and activities and avoid the misuse of ECSA- and ECS-named accounts absent our presence.

ECSA - encourages the growth of citizen science in Europe.
Info
The European Citizen Science Association (ECSA) is a non-profit association set up to encourage the growth of the Citizen Science movement in Europe. It draws on 200 individual and organizational members from over 28 countries across the European Union and beyond. Launched during the EU GREEN WEEK in June 2013, ECSA has grown from an informal network of researchers and communicators interested in Citizen Science into the European reference network of Citizen Science initiatives. ECSA builds on the substantial expertise of its members in order to mobilize Citizen Science as means for evidence-based sustainable development. As spelled out in our strategy, ECSA will conduct research and support refinement of methodologies, increase capacities and develop three interrelated key competencies: - Promoting Sustainability through Citizen Science, - Building a Think Tank for Citizen Science, - Developing Participatory Methods for Cooperation, Empowerment and Impact. Please be sure to adhere to ECSA's social media code of conduct: https://bit.ly/45FBQBz

In August 2024, the EU AI Act officially came into force 🎉marking Europe’s first comprehensive AI regulation. Its mission? To ensure responsible AI development while safeguarding citizens' rights and encouraging innovation. 🌍🚀 Full implementation is set for August 2026. As we advance into 2025, it’s a big year for key milestones that will shape the future of AI in Europe: 📅 Feb 2, 2025: Prohibitions on certain high-risk AI systems 🔒🚫 begin. AI deemed dangerous to safety, health, or rights will be banned. 📅 May 2, 2025: Organizations must have codes of practice 📜✅ in place for responsible AI use—ensuring transparency, fairness, and ethical standards. At SOLARIS, we’re staying on top of these changes to ensure our AI remains safe, ethical, and aligned with the new regulations. 🤖💡 #EU_Solaris #EUAIAct #AI2025 EU Science, Research and Innovation University of Amsterdam Economic.bg ECSA - European Citizen Science Association Università LUMSA Univerza v Mariboru Universidad Carlos III de Madrid Brand Media Bulgaria Albanian Institute for International Studies Ministria e Brendshme University of Exeter DEXAI - Artificial Ethics Utrecht University ANSA Federica Russo

Help Science For Change evaluate and update the statement "Our world - our goals: Citizen Science for the Sustainable Development Goals" of the ECS project. We are updating the 2020 statement "Our World - Our Goals: Citizen Science for the Sustainable Development Goals": as a first step, we are conducting a survey to assess what has been done so far and to find out what needs to be done. 📣 If you would like to participate, please click on the following link📣 https://lnkd.in/da9BgHUd until 8 January 2025 📆
Do you have 10 minutes to help us evaluate and update the statement "Our world - our goals: Citizen Science for the Sustainable Development Goals" of the ECS project? 📝 ECS aims to strengthen citizen science as a valuable research approach for scientific excellence and sustainable development in Europe. To this end, we are co-designing an updated version of the statement "Our World - Our Goals: Citizen Science for the Sustainable Development Goals", which was drafted collaboratively in 2020 by more than 60 citizen science practitioners and other stakeholders from across Europe. As a first step, we are conducting a survey to assess the extent to which the eleven recommendations contained in this statement have been implemented, to find out what needs to be done to implement the recommendations that have not yet been realised and to ask what new recommendations should be added. It would be helpful for us to collect your feedback through this survey, which will be open until 8 January 2025 📆 📣 If you would like to participate, please click on the following link📣 https://lnkd.in/da9BgHUd
