Corbiota aims to create a more sustainable modern farming by providing young animals with natural and animal-friendly nutrition. Feeding young animals with Corbiota’s earthworms strengthens their eubiosis, the natural balance of microorganisms in their gut and immune system and triggers their natural instincts. They grow up stronger, healthier and more resistant towards diseases, reducing the need for antibiotics treatment - one of the biggest global challenges in today’s farming. Corbiota started in 2019 as a venture of BASF’s business incubator Chemovator GmbH. It has been founded as an independent Company in 2022 and is based in Düsseldorf. Germany.

💡Did you know? There are over 3000 earthworm species! 🤩 🌾Earthworms play a crucial role in soil health and fertility: 🪱Soil aeration and drainage: Through their burrowing activity, earthworms create passages in the soil that improve aeration and drainage. This promotes root growth and prevents waterlogging 🪱Nutrient recycling: Earthworms decompose organic material such as dead plant remains and mix it with mineral soil particles. This produces nutrient-rich excretions that fertilize the soil and increase the availability of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium 🪱Soil structure: The activity of earthworms contributes to the formation of a stable soil structure. Their excretions help to crumble the soil, which reduces erosion and improves water absorption 🪱Promotion of soil fauna: Earthworms create habitats for other soil organisms that also contribute to soil fertility. Their excrement serves as food for smaller soil organisms 🪱Indicator of soil quality: The presence of earthworms is a sign of healthy soil. They react sensitively to environmental changes and can therefore serve as indicators of soil quality #corbiota #innovation #agriculture #didyouknow

⛪️ All Saints' Day as a holiday is not only associated with religious traditions such as laying wreaths on graves. Professional groups also have special traditions on these holidays. 👨🌾 Farmers, for example, maintain the custom of baking and giving away so-called formed breads, such as the All Saints' bread. 🤩 These sweet yeast pastries are often given by godparents to their godchildren. Formed breads, also known as formed pastries, are loaves or pieces of pastry that are shaped into figures. ☝🏼These figures can include people, animals such as rabbits or birds, or artistic plaited dough. 💡 A well-known example of formed breads is the Weckmann for St. Martin's Day or the Easter lamb at Easter. #tradition #corbiota #agriculture

🦠 H5N1 bird flu virus has been found in a pig on a farm in Oregon, USDA reported recently. 🐷 The pig did not display signs of illness. There were five pigs on the farm, all of which have been euthanized to allow for testing. A second pig may also have been infected, Oregon authorities later revealed. Two others have tested negative. 🤔Why is this a big deal? 💡pigs are sometimes called a “mixing vessel” for flu viruses because they can be infected with both bird flu and human flu viruses. If a pig is infected with both at the same time, the viruses can swap genes, potentially creating a hybrid virus that is better able to spread to and among people than regular bird flu viruses. This is called “reassortment.” Oregon's state veterinarian Ryan Scholz said this version of H5N1 was from wild birds — it's not associated with the strain that has been spreading among U.S. dairy cows since the spring. 🚨Normally H5N1 Viruses do not spread well amongst pigs, but recent virus versions are different to earlier ones when it comes to infectiousness. Florian Krammer, a flu virologist at Mount Sinai’s Icahn School of Medicine in New York says “If it ends up in large pig populations in the U.S. similar to cows, I think this would be a disaster.” 🚀 This actual case again shows us how important hygiene and quality standards in livestock are to protect our own health. #corbiota #innovation #news #animalhealth

🍗Unpopular opinion these days - but we are sure that we will still eat meat in 30 Years from now. 🐷Yes, there are regions where meat consumption is stagnating, and for some types even declining, but there are also regions where meat consumption is rising sharply. Countries where meat is considered a sign of prosperity are not going to reduce consumption in the short term. 🌱Furthermore, animal husbandry also has many positive effects, as it contributes to soil quality and maintains the balance in nature 💪🏽Do we need to improve animal husbandry? Yes, definitely! 💪🏽Should we work to reduce meat consumption? Absolutely! 🙏🏼But above all, we should start talking to each other, no matter which side we are on, to better understand all the arguments and, above all, the context. There is so much to catch up on! Let's go! 🚀 #opinion #corbiota #innovation

Pigs are fascinating! 🐷 Not only are they both farm animals and pets, they are far more important to our economy than most people realize. They are not only a source of meat, but play a major role in the complete utilization of the animal. In addition to the well-known use of pig products in cosmetics and medicine, there are also other unusual uses that one might not immediately suspect 💡 👗 Pig skin in fashion: Pigskin is used to make gloves, shoes and other leather goods. 🖌️ Pig bristles in paint brushes: High-quality paint brushes, especially for artists and painters, are often made of pig bristles. 🍷 Pig fat and gelatin in industry: Pig fat is used in the production of biodiesel. Gelatine from pig bones and skin is used in the production of films, paper and even in the clarification of wine. 📸 Pig gelatine in photography: Gelatine from pig bones is used in traditional photography for the production of photographic paper and films. It is really fascinating how versatile pork products can be – and I am sure that most of you did not know them. So when we think about the impact of the loss of farms, we should not only think about what it means for the meat supply, but also for other industries. ☝🏼 Do you want more facts about farm animals? „Fully AI controlled? No way“ - or is it? 🤔 We are often questioned when we talk about AI controlled production. When we talk about AI, we do not just mean „some machine learning“. It is highly complex and involves a lot of research and learnings on the way. 🤖 💡The good and the bad about being first? You will have to invent a lot of it from scratch. But having partners such as Koerber AG on our side we have the best starting point to scale our production from from a prototype and a test facility to a high-end production. 🚀 And in addition: ai controlled does not mean fully automated. This is another story to tell as also here there is a lot we have to develop as it is not available in the market. 🤷🏻♀️ Stay tuned to learn more about our Flagship Production Site. ⬅️ #innovation #corbiota #production #AI

In Germany, there are fewer and fewer pig farms👎🏼 But what about the rest of the EU? And how does the EU compare to the US when it comes to pig farming? 🐷 By way of comparison, we show that Europe offers incredible diversity, but that ultimately this also has an impact on the technologies used. 💡 🇺🇸Of course, it is easier for the industry to launch its products in a country like the USA, where, despite different federal states, very similar production methods prevail. 🇪🇺On the other hand, the EU offers a wide range of farm sizes, production types and also the use of technology.
