During last week's meeting week of Working & Strategy Groups, the #CIMAC WG 8 #Marine #Lubricants (chaired by Dorthe M Sveistrup Jacobsen, MAN Energy Solutions) not only had a meeting, but extended the timeframe by 1½ day. The exchange about #lubricants, especially with regard to new and alternative #fuels, was very productive, they reported. The next face-to-face meeting is planned for June 2025. #power #drives #propulsion

Working & Strategy Groups are a driving force behind #CIMAC. These days, as part of what is called Meeting Week, their members, international specialists from companies around the globe, are meeting in Frankfurt/Germany, some join virtually. The various groups, from the #Greenhouse Gas to the #Digitalization Strategy Group and the experts for #Classification, #Exhaust #Emission Control, #Marine Lubricants, Users, Controls & #Automation, to System Integration, meet with each other and also across groups, they discuss and jointly work on new solutions. There is also time for #networking and discussions away from day-to-day business. Many thanks to everyone who is contributing! The next event where expert around #power #drives and #propulsion meet will be the #CIMACCONGRESS in May 2025 in Zurich.

It's a wrap. Day 5 of #MSC109 in the books and lots of learning to digest. Thank you to International Maritime Organization for welcoming CIMAC delegation so warmly to their first MSC meeting. Many topics with relevance to CIMAC were covered and we'll be happy to provide contributions in the future and support #IMO decision making with expertise by #CIMAC members. #MASS Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships Working Group touched topics CIMAC #Digitalization Strategy Group is working on, just as Data Sharing, System Design, Human Element, Machinery Installations and Alert Management. The revised roadmap for MASS non mandatory code is understood and we will come back with consultations. Also, Batteries mentioned in the safety regulatory framework for reducing GHG emissions will be interested to review by CIMAC #GreenhouseGases Strategy Group. We will also pick up on the topic of non-conventional propulsion systems resp. electrical motors in #SSE Ship Systems and Equipment. Furthermore, we fully support the statements made to find peace in the regions of red and black see. Working Groups and Strategy Groups, in which international specialists among the members meet, exchange ideas & develop joint positions, play a key role within #CIMAC. Without them, it simply would not work. They regularly address topics that affect everyone, but where no single company can make progress on its own. Next week, it’s CIMAC meeting week: The Greenhouse Gas Strategy Group as well as the Digitalization Strategy Group, WG2 Classification, WG5 Exhaust Emission Control, WG 8 Marine Lubricants, WG 10 Users, WG 15 Controls & Automation and WG 20 System Integration will be present. These days, the #Maritime Safety Committee is meeting at the International Maritime Organization headquarters in London for its 109th session. The meeting is scheduled to continue until December 6, 2024. On behalf of #CIMAC, Eero Lehtovaara and Daniel Erdmann are taking part, familiarizing themselves with the procedures at the IMO and establishing contacts with delegates from member states, NGOs and IGOs. There are several topics of great interest to CIMAC, be it the development of a goal-based tool for Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS), goal-based new #shipbuilding standards, ship systems and equipment, or #pollutionprevention and response.
