Efficiency gains is one of the most important topics when talking about advantages of #tokenization and DLT-based crypto securities over traditional off-chain assets. ‼️ But what is actually the most important enabler that creates that advantage? 🤔 For us, it’s the creation of a single source of truth (SST) along the #DLT based securities’ value chain, powered by smart contracts that govern programmable asset- and cash legs. 🚀 Hence, it is of no surprise that we find those value chain elements in the off-chain world with large, multi-party reconciliation and coordination needs to generate the most efficiency gains in the on-chain world. Particularly the areas of middle and back-office processes such as trade flow monitoring, corporate actions and asset servicing stand out the most and thus have high potential for increased efficiencies.  However, actual net efficiency gains through #crypto securities such as on-chain #bonds still require significant improvements of the DLT market infrastructure, mainly in the name of 1) reaching critical volume thresholds to enable sufficient economies of scale and; 2) the establishment of a functioning cash leg driven by the implementation of EUR #Stablecoins or other forms of reliable and regulated on-chain cash. Scaling for Mainstream is what the #DigitalAssets industry looks at   🙌At Fireblocks annual #Sparks conference, global industry leaders and innovators came together and discussed the most promising digital asset use cases during a marathon of panels, workshops and meetings. 💡While Crypto certainly has its place (BTC just hit 100k today🚀) memecoins and betting will most likely not be the longterm mainstream usecase. The real potential lies in traditional finance and banking. 👉According to Fireblock research but also general market observations the biggest usecases that will drive mainstream adoption next to crypto are going to be #payments and investment products fueling the #tokenization industry. 👉Money, equities, bonds and alternatives are each multi trillion dollar opportunities to grow digital asset volumes further and offer immense opportunities for all players in the space. Its going to be interesting to see how the volumes develop in each category over the next years. Personally I am convinced memecoins will eventually be in the least significant category in terms of volumes. 💱 The redemption of a bond is routine for us, but not in this case❗ Yesterday, our first-ever digital bond with blockchain-based processing in central bank money was due. We had issued the bearer bond with a three-month maturity at the end of August 2024. On November 28, 2024, we successfully redeemed the bond from our esteemed investors DekaBank, DZ BANK AG, and Union Investment. The redemption process, just like the issuance, was executed on the blockchain infrastructure of Cashlink Technologies, which also served as the crypto securities registrar. Additionally, Boerse Stuttgart Digital provided crypto custody services, ensuring a seamless experience. Legal advice was provided by Linklaters. With this successful redemption, we have completed the entire life cycle of this groundbreaking transaction. What makes it particularly special? We implemented a Delivery-vs-Payment mechanism using DLT-based central bank money via Deutsche Bundesbank’s #TriggerSolution. This innovation streamlined the settlement process to approximately three minutes, eliminating the need for a central securities depository. This transaction marks our second blockchain-based digital bond this year. Our first pilot issuance in July focused on investor engagement and market education, laying the groundwork for future innovations.
