2025 lies ahead of us. And we look back at a year full of challenges and achievements: Despite persistent headwinds from our environment, ALTANA AG has achieved strong and profitable growth. Our recipe for success remains a healthy mix of continuity and change: continuity through our defining corporate culture and our strengths as a customer-oriented, innovation-driven, and decentralized specialty chemicals group. At the same time, we rely on targeted, sometimes groundbreaking changes to turn challenges into opportunities. With the integration of Von Roll and Silberline, our #ELANTAS and #ECKART divisions are in full transformation. Many changes are also being driven forward at #ACTEGA and #BYK. Cross-divisional initiatives, e.g. in sustainability and digitalization are also moving forward. Our financial strength enables us to continuously invest into the future and sustainable growth even in difficult economic conditions – worldwide and in all divisions. I am excited to continue on this way forward in 2025 together with our 8,000 ALTANA team members around the world. A special thank you to all of you for your effort, commitment and support. Our 22nd Global Management Meeting of ALTANA has concluded. What did we take with us from this event? A wealth of ideas and new perspectives for the future of ALTANA AG! The GMM was a valuable opportunity for me to see colleagues from all ALTANA divisions worldwide. It was inspiring to meet in person, share perspectives and strengthen our ALTANA leadership group. In these dynamic times, ALTANA is both performing and transforming: We are performing in a persistently challenging environment, while transforming in many areas of the company to sustain direction and success. For example, through the integration of our recent acquisitions of Von Roll and Silberline. In all of this, we can, and we will continue to capitalize on our ALTANA identity as well as on our distinct strengths—above all market leadership, innovation power and agility to act on our opportunities. With this, ALTANA is truly on the move. Our Keep Changing Agenda defines many of the transformatory steps ahead—and at the heart of this are innovation, sustainability, and people. These are the pillars of our business—and when I look at our teams worldwide: it is their passion and expertise that drives our progress. Thanks to everyone who helped make this year's Global Management Meeting again such a great event. Looking back to many years of collaboration with a very special leadership team, I can say that I very much look forward to continuing to work with all of you—together with the entire team worldwide we will keep ALTANA on track and seize our manifold opportunities in these times of disruption. #WeAreALTANA

The global race for raw materials is accelerating—strongly driven by the decarbonization of economies. The dependence on imports, often from a single third country, makes the #EU highly vulnerable to supply disruptions. For the chemical sector and companies such as ALTANA AG, the reliable access to raw materials is crucial to producing the products that are essential across nearly every industry—from automotive to construction, from electronics to consumer goods. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗮𝘄 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀? It’s encouraging to see policymakers and business working together to tackle these challenges—such as yesterday’s high-level Raw Materials Congress “Towards Raw Materials Sovereignty”, presented by the Federation of German Industries (BDI - Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie e.V.) in Berlin. First steps have already been taken: the EU Critical Raw Materials Act aims to promote innovation along the entire value chain, boosting research and development of alternative materials. The chemical industry is already making significant contributions to resilience: one key to a higher degree of European raw materials sovereignty is to fully leverage the potential of recycling raw materials or to replace critical ones with new, replaceable alternative solutions. For example, our ECKART division, a leading manufacturer of effect pigments, is already developing products that are based up to 100 percent on secondary aluminum. Working closely together with customers and raw material suppliers along the entire supply chain, we are enabling more sustainable products. Our BYK Additives division, on the other hand, developed a family of surface additives consisting of 100 percent renewable, plant-based raw materials—another major step forward for more sustainable products. These initiatives show that raw materials resilience is part of our daily work and life. #Together, we can pave the way for a more sustainable and resilient future.

The 24th Frankfurter Jobbörse für Naturwissenschaftler:innen is over and was a great success! This year, I was on the other side of the exhibition booth at ALTANA AG, answering questions of many young, eager scientists who are very interested in starting their carreers. I was surprised by the number of people who stopped by and the meaningful questions they asked. I could not have done it without my colleague Lisa Ebbert! Of course, I also met quite a few old friends from my time with the JungesChemieForum (JCF) der Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker e.V. (GDCh) and also from the University of Regensburg.
