A. Lange & Söhne began as small start-up with 15 apprentices and big ideas: When Dresden watchmaker Ferdinand Adolph Lange established his manufactory in 1845 to build the world’s best watches, he laid the cornerstone of Saxony’s precision watchmaking industry. His precious pocket watches remain highly coveted among collectors all over the world. After a glorious comeback in the 1990s, A. Lange & Söhne soon secured a top-tier position among the world’s finest watch brands. Today, the meticulously handcrafted timepieces of A. Lange & Söhne are available in more than 60 countries around the world. The commitment to young people is rooted deeply in the tradition of A. Lange & Söhne. Sourcing new talent is crucial to the future of our business. The Lange Watchmaking School, established in 1997, provides training that meets the high standards demanded by the manufactory. Most of the watchmakers, who have successfully completed the three-year apprenticeship, work at the Lange workshops and count among the most talented watchmakers. As a globally acting company that employs staff from a variety of nationalities at almost 20 global locations, we are committed to diversity and equal opportunities. Cosmopolitanism, tolerance and social responsibility characterise the daily work of our employees in Glashütte and all over the world. A. Celebrating 30 years of the LANGE 1 with two new colour combinations. With its individual design, micromechanical engineering and artisanal finish, the LANGE 1 epitomizes the essence of A. Lange & Söhne. To commemorate its anniversary, we introduce two new versions of the LANGE 1 and the LITTLE LANGE 1: in platinum with a dial made of black onyx and in pink gold with a blue dial. The sapphire-crystal caseback reveals the manufacture movement. It offers impressive testimony of our watchmakers’ perseverance and expertise in their pursuit of perfecting even the tiniest detail by assembling it twice and lavishly decorating every part. The two LANGE 1 models with a case diameter of 38.5 millimetres are limited to 300 watches each. The LITTLE LANGE 1 models with a case diameter of 36.8 millimetres are limited to 150 watches each. Since 2011, we have been presenting our HANDWERKSKUNST models, which take the finishing techniques for cases, movements and dials to the next level. One such technique is enamelling. The creation of a radiant enamel dial, which can be found in our LANGE 1 TOURBILLON HANDWERKSKUNST, is a meticulous process, requiring several days during which time the various stages in the manufacturing sequence often have to be repeated multiple times. Another intricate technique, found on models like the DATOGRAPH HANDWERKSKUNST or the 1815 TOURBILLON HANDWERKSKUNST, is tremblage engraving. This technique, using a specially crafted lining burin, creates a captivating three-dimensional texture on the dial, with subtle light reflections dancing across its surface. In addition, our HANDWERKSKUNST timepieces, such as the CABARET TOURBILLON HANDWERKSKUNST, are distinguished by intricate free-hand engravings. These engravings can take hours or even days to complete, highlighting the artistry, dexterity, and above all, the perseverance of our engravers. Twenty-five years ago, we introduced the DATOGRAPH, a timepiece that has been a benchmark in chronograph construction since then. Now, commemorating its anniversary, we introduce a further timepiece: the DATOGRAPH HANDWERKSKUNST. Limited to 25 pieces, this edition is a celebration of our artisanal dedication. The original design of the DATOGRAPH is enriched with further elements, showcasing rare and sophisticated dial and movement decorations. The rhodiumed dial features an ornate tremblage engraving, and within the movement, the chronograph levers are black polished. Both are very time-intensive and rare finishing techniques that are the work of patient hands, guided by generations of knowledge. The DATOGRAPH HANDWERKSKUNST in yellow gold is a testament to our dedication to driving the traditional art of watchmaking to ever-new heights. Discover the legacy of Caspar David Friedrich, a world-famous artist closely connected to Dresden – the birthplace of Ferdinand Adolph Lange. As part of our partnership with the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, which we established in 2006, we are honoured to support the exhibition “Caspar David Friedrich. Where it all started", marking the 250th anniversary of the artist’s birth. Friedrich's strong ties to Dresden shaped his artistic journey. His forty-year residency there nurtured his masterpieces, defining German Romanticism. His central themes revolve around real landscapes and places, which are also allegories for his captivating landscapes of longing and contemplation, inviting the viewer to “recognise yourselves and your time”, as Friedrich once stated. Friedrich’s outstanding craftsmanship, devotion, and vision remain highly relevant today, much like Ferdinand Adolph Lange’s own passion and pursuit of precision in watchmaking. Lange founded the first watch manufacture in Glashütte in 1845 - five years after Friedrich died in Dresden. We invite you to celebrate Saxony's heritage and discover more about the exhibition, which runs from the 24th of August until the 5th of January 2025: https://bit.ly/3Mnf20g #alangesoehne #caspardavidfriedrich #cdf250 #skdmuseum #finewatchmaking

Black polishing: the pinnacle of time-honoured, time-intensive finishing. Our finishers invest countless hours mastering black polishing, an intricate process that stands as the pinnacle of traditional finishing techniques. With each stroke applied to the part, our finishers come closer to their goal of creating a mirror-like lustre from one angle and a deep black shimmer from another. This striking dance of light and shadow, which accentuates complex mechanisms and crucial individual parts, can for instance be seen on the tourbillon carriage surface of our RICHARD LANGE TOURBILLON “Pour le Mérite”, on numerous levers in our GRAND COMPLICATION, and on the gong hammers of our ZEITWERK MINUTE REPEATER HONEYGOLD. As we prepare for the release of our upcoming debut on the 30th of August 2024, we invite you to explore all of our meticulous finishing techniques on our website: https://bit.ly/4cwKG6d #alangesoehne #athomeinunchartedterritories #watchesandwonders2024
