Brent DeVore, commander, Joint Region Marianas, and Command Master Chief William Webster, senior enlisted leader for JRM, visited with students from Guam High School's Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps, Panther Company, Dec. 18. During their visit, they conducted a uniform inspection in the school’s shooting range and later joined students in the library for an engaging Q&A session. The students had the unique opportunity to learn about military careers, hear first-hand leadership insights, and ask questions about service in the U.S. Navy. • 🌟🇺🇸Promotion Alert! Today we proudly frocked, or promoted, two first class petty officers to their current rank. Please join us in congratulating Yeoman 1st Class Isiah Alvidrez and Operations Specialist 1st Class Wilbur Theis. 🪡 During the ceremony, Sailors brought back the Naval tradition of "tacking on the crow," which involves Sailors taking turns sewing a stitch onto the rank tab of a newly-advanced petty officer’s uniform, representing the equality of the new rank and the support offered to the petty officer. A frocking ceremony is a significant event in a Sailor's career that gives them the authority and responsibility of a higher rank before their official promotion.
