Autonomous operations have started! Last week, we began transporting freight for DHL Supply Chain with our purpose-built Volvo VNL Autonomous integrated with the Aurora virtual driver. The autonomous transport operations are running between Fort Worth and El Paso, as well as Dallas and Houston, with a safety driver on board. This milestone brings increased efficiency and much-needed freight capacity to the North American transport network. #VolvoAutonomousSolutions #VAS #GuidedBySafety

We’re now moving goods with self-driving trucks through Texas with our partner DHL Supply Chain – one of the most extensive logistics operators in the world. Jason Gillespie, DHL Senior Director of Continuous Improvement and Innovation, and Sasko Cuklev, Head of On-Road Solutions for V.A.S., spoke to Fleet Owner Magazine about the launch, our autonomous technology, the roadmap to full autonomous operations, and whether 2025 will be the year of autonomous trucking. Together with DHL Supply Chain, we’re taking a significant step towards transforming freight transportation in the United States with the launch of our autonomous operations. Enabled by the Volvo VNL Autonomous and powered by the Aurora Driver, the operations represent a pivotal step in validating the comprehensive ecosystem needed to scale autonomous transport. “As part of the Volvo Group, we have access to industry-leading product development, world-class manufacturing and a mature dealer and service network. For a large-scale deployment of autonomy, in addition to the autonomous truck, there also needs to be a cohesive and seamless support network of surrounding infrastructure, which creates a comprehensive autonomous ecosystem that enables daily operations,” stated Nils Chr. Jaeger, President of Volvo Autonomous Solutions. At this stage, a safety driver will monitor performance and ensure seamless integration into existing logistic networks. Freight will be hauled on two lanes: Dallas to Houston and Fort Worth to El Paso. Read the full press release here: https://lnkd.in/dd9UWjsW #VolvoAutonomousSolutions #VAS #GuidedBySafety

When it comes to new and evolving technologies, fear of the unknown is natural. That’s why, at Volvo Autonomous Solutions, we prioritize transparency at every step of the process – from building our safety case to real-world application. After many years of testing and development, we’re proud to be validating our solutions on highways in Texas. This milestone brings us one step closer to making the autonomous transport ecosystem a reality – and, importantly, delivering on the promise of autonomy. #VolvoAutonomousSolutions #VAS #GuidedBySafety

Born in 1996, reimagined in 2024. The new Volvo VNL Autonomous is just the beginning of our commitment to driving the future of autonomy. Safety: Built from the ground up with redundant systems in steering, braking, communication, and power management—critical for autonomous operations. Efficiency: 10% more fuel efficient than the previous model. Scalability: The first truck on Volvo’s standardized global autonomous platform, setting the stage for expanding autonomy across all Volvo Group brands, geographies, and applications. #VolvoAutonomousSolutions #VAS #GuidedBySafety
