🎆 What’s on Your Wish List for the New Year? 🎆 In a recent fireside chat with our colleague Leann Thomas, we dived into the world of Academic Operations to bring our new TimeEdit team members up to speed. Among many fascinating insights, we discussed the challenges and complexities of curriculum management. Drawing on her extensive conversations with colleagues in the sector, Leann highlighted three key challenges that higher education needs to address as we head into 2025 and beyond: 📌 Challenge 1: A Single Source of Truth Achieving a single source of truth is key to building transparency and enabling informed decision-making. 📌 Challenge 2: Relevance and Readiness Adapting curricula to continually align with industry trends and societal needs is critical to preparing students for the future. 📌 Challenge 3: Cost-effective Curriculum Delivery Delivering high-quality education while managing budgets efficiently remains a critical balancing act. Do these challenges resonate with you or what your institution is experiencing? We'd love to hear your perspective, let's start a conversation and explore how we can tackle these together. You can also connect directly with Leann Thomas —she’d be delighted to ponder some thought-provoking questions and ideas over the holidays. 😉 🎄

📅 Some weekend food for thought: Could refining workload planning unlock the operational efficiency your institution is searching for? Lately, there has been much discussion about the need for institutions to adopt a more business-like mindset, driven by cost pressures and increased demand from students to see value for their high tuition fees. As universities strive to optimise resources and meet the evolving needs of students and staff, academic workload management is stepping into the spotlight. It’s no longer just about allocating hours—it’s about balancing budgets, aligning schedules, and integrating seamlessly with curriculum planning and other essential tools. The benefits? Better visibility into resource use, smarter financial planning, and an operational framework that supports both academic excellence and staff well-being. 🌟 At TimeEdit, we believe effective workload management is key to unlocking the full potential of academic operations—and we’re here to help you walk the talk. 💡 That’s why we’re excited about some upcoming sessions. Roundtable with HESPA 10th December, 2024: "The Balancing Act: Making Academic Workload Planning Work (Without the Tightrope)." https://lnkd.in/djDn7sVe This session will be for HESPA members only, but don't worry, we are covering the topic in other upcoming webinars too, below is a link to sign up for similar event, if you are part of the Dutch speaking community. https://lnkd.in/dWpFWdgF Hope to see many of you join us as we explore actionable insights and best practices for tackling this critical challenge. #AcademicOperations #WorkloadManagement #WorkforcePlanning

🎉 TimeEdit’s Asia Conference was all about sharing insights and building connections! 🎉 Last week, we brought together experts in scheduling and academic operations from across the region for a day full of insights, discussions, and connections in beautiful Singapore. From big-picture talks on timetabling challenges to interactive breakout sessions and a sneak peek at TimeEdit’s upcoming features, it was all about moving academic operations forward. As Mohamad Faizal writes, the most valuable sessions are always those, where others share their journeys with the community. So a massive thanks to MOHD ARIF SHUIB, Shahibullah Ithnin from University of Malaya as well as Marina Kamarudin from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS for taking us through your journeys so far. Also, a huge thank you to everyone who joined (especially those who made the trip from Malaysia). Until next time 💚 🌏✨ https://lnkd.in/dbEENEWs #TimeEdit #AcademicOperations #Timetabling
🌐 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐄𝐝𝐢𝐭 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 📅✨ I recently had the pleasure of attending a Timetabling Conference organised by TimeEdit, bringing together timetable practitioners from Singapore and Malaysia. The event was packed with insightful sessions, where we picked up valuable tips, tricks, and learned about exciting features that are in the pipeline. However, the most rewarding part was the opportunity to network with fellow professionals in the field. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐞? 🤝💬 Realising that many of us are navigating similar challenges in the world of timetabling. It was incredibly valuable to exchange ideas, share experiences, and establish a support network with like-minded colleagues. Discussing our different approaches and priorities sparked fresh ideas and new perspectives that I’m excited to take back to our own institution. A special mention to the brilliant organisers and participants I had the chance to connect with, including Robert Jan Bulter, Linda Johansson, Jordan Woolley. Your insights and contributions were truly inspiring! One of the most engaging conversations was around the various strategies institutions use to create timetables: 📊🏫 🔄Some institutions prioritise staff or classroom availability, building schedules around those constraints. 🗓️ At Republic Polytechnic, it’s all about putting students first. We generate our timetables based on student needs and availability, ensuring their academic experience remains the focus of our planning. A big thank you to TimeEdit for hosting such an enriching event! 🙌 I’m grateful for the new connections made and excited to implement some of these fresh ideas into our timetabling processes. #TimetablingConference #TimeEdit #Networking #HigherEd #AcademicScheduling #ProfessionalDevelopment #TimetablingInnovations #ContinuousLearning #Singapore #Malaysia

At TE, we don’t have a marketing department - no fancy titles, no big ad budgets. However, what we do have is a culture of extreme ownership, a genuine curiosity in helping our users, and - dare I say it - the most engaged user base in the industry 💚 That's really all you need to create truly meaningful community events. And in the last 30 days we've wrapped up no less than 6 user conferences across 6 countries, connecting with 300+ schedulers and curriculum builders. Sometimes we may be a bit scrappy 😅, but always with a lot of heart and hard work. Thank you all for participating across Gothenburg 🇸🇪, Copenhagen 🇩🇰, Oslo 🇳🇴, Singapore 🇸🇬, and Rotterdam 🇳🇱 for making this past month such a blast, and a special thanks to all you helping out organizing and presenting: Morten Vøyvik at Kristiania University College, Mikael Bodell at Chalmers University of Technology, Maria Louise Kortewegt and the team at Erasmus University Rotterdam, Michiel Visser at Politieacademie, Wouter Vos at Thomas More University of Applied Sciences, Fred Jonker at Wageningen University & Research, Shahibullah Ithnin and Mohd Arif Shuib at University of Malaya - thank you!! See you in all in Båstad at TE Summit in May ✨

I'm super happy to share that Jacob Beydler is stepping into the role of Head of Customer Success in ANZ, and that Joel Czarnota takes on the role of Commercial Director for the region. We now have a team of 13 dedicated members down under 🌏 (and hiring!*), working with 10+ live institutions. Looking back, it's remarkable what we have achieved in just a couple of years - and it's safe to say we wouldn't be here without either one of these guys. More importantly, both Joel and Jacob bring an exceptional depth of understanding of product and customers to the table. I'm confident their knowledge and hands-on approach will bring true value to the community for years to come. Because there's lots and lots to do. And now our teenager is growing up 🦘 * New job alert: https://lnkd.in/d73Urfzs

☄️ Last week, we held the TimeEdit annual Hackathon competition. This year’s problem: managing change requests. One of, if not the, biggest bottleneck across the academic operations process. 🥇 A massive thank you to our user panel - Carlos Murakami, Lara Taffer, Fred Jonker, and Morten Vøyvik who dissected each solution and chose the grand winner. And btw I loved Lara's comment: “If we combine the impact scoring from Team 8, conflict visualization from Team 3, and the request flow from Team 1, we have a complete game changer.” 😁 "Plus it looked like you had a lot of fun". What it is all about. 🧗 Can't wait for these ideas to come to life

📊 The State of Scheduling Report is now live This report builds on +200 survey respondents and more than 50 interviews with practitioners across the academic community. Two major takeaways: 1) It’s clear that improving the student experience is becoming more crucial than ever 2) Data collection and gaining measurable insights are the most inefficient processes in the scheduling cycle. How to fix it? Better upstream data validation. 🔗 Download the full report here: https://lnkd.in/dAUbT7yF Thank you to everyone who contributed to this year’s report—your insights are invaluable

Finished an incredible 2-day project discovery session with the Canberra Institute of Technology. The collaboration of over 20 dedicated individuals, both online and in-person, underscores the magnitude of this project within their 5-year plan. This project is especially meaningful to me – CIT is where I first embarked on my tertiary education journey at 17. Now, at TimeEdit working alongside Sean Seneviratne (Implementation Manager) and Andrea Binning (Project Manager), I’m thrilled we could contribute to their continued success and transformation. Together, we’re shaping the future of Academic Operations and building lasting relationships. Excited for what’s to come! #CustomerSuccess #StrategicPartnership #EducationalTransformation #TimeEdit
