Supported employment is the provision of support to people with disabilities or other disadvantaged groups to access and maintain paid work in the open labor market. It means helping people who face difficulties to find and maintain paid work in regular workplaces. Imagine changing someone’s life by helping them find a job that matches their skills and abilities. Supported employment has been making such an impact for over 40 years in both European and American countries. At first, people with intellectual and multiple disabilities worked in special sheltered workshops. But this method was not truly inclusive.
