This new poster tells many stories—the history of humanoids and the humanoids that shaped history. The focus was on visualizing the most significant robots that contributed to the development of today's humanoids. The evaluation criteria include bipedal locomotion, hand dexterity and manipulation, Human-Robot Interaction, and AI/robot learning. Teach your #robots these signs; they'll need them in a few years to get back home safely! I was looking for something similar to helipads, but for #drones, and couldn’t find anything online. I needed a sign that cameras can recognize, is scalable, defines direction, and is easy for machines to process. These concepts has since expanded to other types of robots, like wheeled robots, quadrupeds, and even humanoids. Is there any other type of robot that is notable and we missed? Over the last six months we have been involved in a really exciting master thesis, acting as an industry partner to two students from Chalmers and collaborating with Front Robots and Radisson Blu Riverside Hotel. In their thesis, Robotiquette in Scandinavia, Emrik Andersson and Filip Takvam investigate how hospitality robots are used (or not) in Swedish restaurants and how they can be designed to better meet the needs of customers and staff. They have developed a design process and guidelines to support robot designers, which are exemplified in their robot concept, covering everything from sensor placement to robot behavior and workflow. Through smart design features, the concept aims to improve the restaurant robots' usefulness to the staff as well as the customer experience. As the students conclude, restaurant robots still have some way to go before they can be considered truly useful and accepted, but thanks to their hard work we are one step closer.
