How to: navigate the media spotlight!   Michaela Abercrombie Simpson and Malin Lundgren from EHAB’s communications team recently hosted an insightful media training crash course for EHAB and our subsidiaries. The course was focused on navigating the public landscape with confidence and covered essential PR topics such as:  ▪️The importance of transparency, accountability and a strong core message  ▪️Understanding a journalist’s mindset and owning your own narrative  ▪️The do’s and don’ts for live or recorded interviews  ▪️How to be proactive and prepared with communicative routines and procedures A big thank you to Michaela, Malin, and all the participants for this interesting and engaging session! 🇸🇪 Did you know that Sweden is the origin of (one of) the earliest documented examples of shared ownership in a commercial enterprise?  Over 700 years ago, the copper mine in Falun became a key site for the development of early forms of shared economic interest. In 1288, what would later become Stora AB (now Stora Enso after a merger with Enso Oyj) granted an ownership stake in the mine to the Bishop of Västerås, which some historians consider the first example of a share in a company — predating similar documented cases by centuries.  “In 1288, Stora Enso issued the first share ever granted in a company, giving a bishop an eighth of a copper mountain” (Gittleson, 2012). While there are examples of family businesses and government-owned operations older than the Falun copper mine, none of them involved shared ownership in the same way.  In the whitepaper "The Evolution of the Swedish Market Model" - Nima Sanandaji, Viktor Ström, Dr. Mouna Esmaeilzadeh, MD. PhD., and Saeid Esmaeilzadeh discuss how this early example of shared ownership played a role in shaping the Swedish market model and the broader development of Western capitalism. Understanding the origins of the first share company helps us realise the unique contributions Sweden has made to global economic systems and offers valuable insights into the foundations of our modern economy. Today is Nobel Day 2024!     Since 1901, the Nobel Prizes have been awarded annually on December 10, honouring Alfred Nobel’s legacy on the anniversary of his passing. The prizes recognize laureates in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature, and Peace. “Technology is not the problem – in fact, we are” was just one of the many thought-provoking and insightful statements made by British author Timandra Harkness when she, together with Alastair Donald, founder of the Battle of Ideas Festival, visited us the other week.     In the company of around fifty guests, we gathered at EHAB to explore the developments which have led to today’s calls for internet censorship. We discussed factors driving fear around social media and AI, and to what extent new technology is responsible for adverse social and political trends.  One thing is certain - there was no lack of dynamic discussions and fresh perspectives. A big thank you to our honorary guests, Timandra and Alastair, and to everyone attending for a truly engaging and inspiring evening. And an extra thank you to Johan Gärdebo, Malin Lundgren and Pernilla Kofoed for organizing this event.
