🌟 Successful Week at WCPGHAN 2024! 🌟 We’re thrilled to share highlights from BioGaia’s participation in the 7th World Congress of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (WCPGHAN) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This congress, held every four years, gathers professionals like doctors, nurses, and dietitians from across the globe, with this year’s event attracting over 1,500 participants from 200+ institutions, particularly from the LATAM region. 💡 Showcasing innovation at our booth Our booth welcomed 400 visitors, where we showcased our full Protectis pediatric portfolio, including BioGaia Pharax and the newly launched product within skin helath, BioGaia Aldermis. The interest in probiotics was remarkable—if only all our products could be available everywhere! A huge thank you to our Argentinian partner, Ethical Nutrition, for their invaluable support. 🎓 The BioGaia Brilliant Minds Studio Symposium We hosted a scientific symposium on Functional Abdominal Pain Disorders (FAPD), featuring renowned speakers: Yvan Vandenplas (Belgium) Mário Vieira (Brazil) Rodrigo Vázquez Frias (Mexico) The turnout exceeded all expectations! With a room for 180 attendees, we saw people sitting on the floor, standing against walls, and even crowding outside the doors. It’s clear the interest in our field is immense, and we’re proud to have reached this milestone. Freeze-drying is one of the most common ways to increase the shelf-life of probiotics and pharmaceutics. The Swedish probiotic company BioGaia AB wanted to follow the freeze-drying process in real time to understand how the freezing, annealing and drying steps affect the final material structure. To do this they partnered with RISE Research Institutes of Sweden to use large-scale infrastructure techniques.  RISE has been instrumental in the development of key research infrastructures such as MAX IV, ESS and P21.2 at Petra III, actively shaping these facilities to better serve Swedish industry-related research and to enhance their international accessibility and technological capabilities. Developing our Probiotic Concentrate was not easy and is a result of our great collaboration with BioGaia AB It is very hard to formulate with live bacteria, and then even harder to keep the bacteria alive in the formula. During the development process, an external laboratory tested 6 products on the market claiming to contain live probiotics. We found out that in 3 of them, there was no live bacteria at all and in the other 3, the content was very limited. Our Probiotic Concentrate contains billions of live Lactobacillus reuteri bacteria, doing wonders for the skin. We are not surprised but very happy that more and more customers discover this fantastic product. And, we could not be happier that it today got recognized for being the best serum/concentrate in the 2024 Beauty Awards 💕 https://lnkd.in/dZFp-ivE

🌍 Antibiotic resistance is among the most pressing global health threats today. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 1.3 million people die each year from infections caused by resistant bacteria. BioGaia is participating in World AMR Awareness Week, a WHO initiative, by educating and highlighting the important role probiotics can play in combating this growing threat. 🔬 Research suggests that preventive use of probiotics can result in fewer sick days and less absenteeism from daycare, school, and work, providing societal and economic benefits. When used alongside antibiotics, probiotics have been shown to reduce side effects such as antibiotic-associated diarrhea and other gastrointestinal issues, supporting faster recovery. 📣 BioGaia is advocating for an increased focus on probiotics in the global fight against antibiotic resistance and proposes the following actions: 👉 Education for healthcare professionals on the preventive benefits of probiotics. 👉 Clearer recommendations for the use of probiotics during antibiotic treatments. 👉 Recognition and regulation of the term "probiotic" to enable informed consumer choices. #WAAW #WAAW2024 #AMR #WHO #Probiotics #BioGaia
