Hong Kong start-up Libpet Tech has designed an advanced #wheelchair to improve the quality of life for individuals with mobility challenges. The wheelchair collects data on the surrounding environment using cameras, ultrasound beams and infrared scanning for AI analysis to plot optimal travel paths and avoid obstacles. It also has potential applications in health monitoring, language learning and entertainment. Libpet Tech has recently been recognised as one of the ten winners of #HKTDC’s Start-Up Express 2024. The #StartupExpressInternational 2024 – Meet the Global Winners session, held during #EntrepreneurDay (E-Day), garnered an enthusiastic response, attracting over 250 participants. Duncan Chiu, Legislative Council Member (Technology & Innovation Constituency), presented awards to the seven winning #startups. Additionally, 15 global start-ups shared their entrepreneurial journeys and development plans. Business links between Hong Kong and ASEAN are growing strongly, in response to the Hong Kong SAR Government’s commitment to expanding #trade with its second-largest trading partner. HKMB talks to Agnes Chan, Chairman of the #HongKong General Chamber of Commerce (#HKGCC) and a key member of the business delegation to Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam led by Chief Executive John Lee earlier this year. During the visit, the HKGCC signed agreements with counterpart organisations in Vietnam and Cambodia and outlined forthcoming activities to provide market intelligence and networking opportunities. By 2025, the HKGCC plans to strengthen its collaboration with chambers and consulates in #ASEAN countries to expand business networks and exchange information about Hong Kong's capabilities.
