The Recording Industry of Kenya, RIKE, which is the official trade association representing both incorporated organizations (record labels) and self-released artists seeks to establish a safe policy and legislative environment to support Kenya's recorded music industry across all revenue streams, especially in the digital space. RIKE commends the government’s commitment, led by CS Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen, to fast-track the ratification of WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty, (WPPT). The workshop is designed to bring together new and seasoned record producers, government representatives, and other stakeholders for comprehensive discussions, where participants will have the opportunity to network, share ideas, benchmark, and deepen their understanding of critical industry issues—such as content protection and enforcement, collective management, policy issues, financial literacy, and the impact of AI on the recorded music business, among others. A fundamental part of our mandate is to empower producers through knowledge and capacity building, ensuring everyone in the industry benefits and grows together. RIKE is committed to protecting the collective interests of all music producers. We can only achieve this through collaboration.
