Data Analyst | Data Scientist | Business Intelligence Engineer | Data Engineer | Analytics Engineer | Carnegie Mellon University Graduate | Driven to create impact by leveraging technology

Here's my 2024 LinkedIn Rewind, by Coauthor.studio: 2024: The Year I Became a Responsible Data & AI Steward When I started the year, I knew technology was changing; but I didn't realize how profoundly we'd need to reshape our approach to AI and data. At The Stepstone Group, I continued developing product insights, but my real journey was in understanding how we can deploy AI responsibly. Working with GradeFlow to design an AI-powered grading system wasn't just about efficiency—it was about creating technology that genuinely supports educators. Three moments crystallized this year's learning: 1. AI Governance Certification When I completed the Securiti AI Governance Certification, I realized guardrails aren't limitations—they're enablers of responsible innovation. "The widespread adoption of AI necessitates methodical guardrails to govern, manage, and secure its use." https://lnkd.in/dwypTBu8 2. Phoenix Ke Analytics Mentorship Mentoring isn't about transferring skills—it's about mutual growth. Helping my mentee Wanjiku Kabiro secure a full-time role reminded me that technology's true power is human potential. https://lnkd.in/dmu-j44v 3. Deep Technical Understanding As Alexander Pope said, "A little learning is a dangerous thing." Diving deep into tools like Airbyte taught me that understanding isn't just about knowing—it's about contextualizing. https://lnkd.in/dvaD8uMq Beyond projects, I developed end-to-end data and AI pipelines, enabling personalized learning support. I obtained certifications in AI Safety Governance and NVIDIA Data Science, each expanding my understanding of technology's ethical dimensions. In 2025, I'm committed to scaling responsible AI implementation across enterprise systems. But more importantly, I want to continue building data analytics & AI excellence within Kenya's vibrant tech ecosystem. To my Phoenix Ke Analytics community, mentees, fellow AI Safety Advocates, and fellow data practitioners: our work isn't just about code. It's about creating technology that serves humanity. #LinkedInRewind #2024Wrapped --

This dashboard was created from a dataset sent in Phoenix Ke Analytics WhatsApp group. The dataset is about health insurance from which I was able to determine the number of people with past and present insurance coverage, what percentage of people who go for cancer screening and regular checks have insurance, what number of people had insurance coverage at the time of hospital visit, income and employment status of people with or without coverage. Let me know what you think

Top 40 Under 40 Women in Kenya 2024|Senior Analytics Specialist‖Young data professional of the year 2023‖30 outstanding women in data 2023||Founder||→Delivering Actionable Insights for Business Optimization and Growth

2024 reminded me why I started Phoenix Ke Analytics because talent isn't the problem in Africa - access and opportunity are. Between being named in Top 40 Under 40, speaking at Africa Tech Festival, and watching our first cohort of mentees graduate, this year proved what's possible when we invest in African data talent. But it also showed how much work we still need to do. Key moments that shaped our mission: • Graduated 100+ mentees through Phoenix KE Analytics • Spoke about AI's future in Africa at Africa Tech Festival • Launched successful second cohort of mentorship program • Built partnerships with leading tech companies • Named in Top 40 Under 40 Women in Kenya Three posts that captured what matters most: "The Challenge of African Datasets" If we want AI to truly work for Africa, we need to feed these models with our data, from our experiences. https://lnkd.in/dDJ7yxPY "From Zero to Data Champion" My journey from not knowing what SQL was to leading a data community. Because if I could do it, so can you. https://lnkd.in/dxv2dVXb "Africa Tech Festival Reflections" AI has to work for us, not the other way around. We need to stop being just consumers and step up as creators. https://lnkd.in/daydHqd9 Looking ahead: In 2025, we're expanding Phoenix KE Analytics across East Africa while pushing for more open African datasets. Because by 2050, Africa will have the youngest population globally - and they deserve more than just access to technology. They deserve to shape it. To every African data professional fighting to be seen, heard, and valued: your work matters. Your voice matters. And together, we're building something bigger than ourselves. #dataanalytics #datascience #AfricaRising #AI #PhoenixKEAnalytics #LinkedInRewind

🚀Excited to share my latest project! I recently completed an analysis project focused on analyzing sales data to understand sales and customer behavior. Had lots of fun working on this project, combining both my SQL and Power BI skills. I used SQL for data cleaning which involved handling missing values, N/As and nulls. I was able to populate and update the values from the data itself using JOINs. With Power BI, I transformed the data and established relationships between existing tables before visualization. I had the opportunity to present my findings to my amazing mentor Mercy Shitolwa, thanks to the mentorship program by Phoenix Ke Analytics, receiving feedback that helped me refine my analytical and presentation skills. This experience deepened my understanding of: ✅ Data cleaning and transformation techniques ✅ Creating interactive dashboards ✅ Scheduling data refresh and forecasting on Power BI ✅ Leveraging data for business insights I'd love to hear your thoughts or feedback! If you're working on similar projects or have tips for improving data analysis workflows, let’s connect and share ideas 🙂 Here's the link to the project: https://lnkd.in/d_RiDwpd

🌟 Excited to Share My Latest Project on Customer Attrition! 🌟 Understanding why customers leave is critical for businesses to thrive. To address this, I worked on an exciting Customer Attrition Prediction project! 🚀 Special thanks to Phoenix Ke Analytics and my mentor Rodgers Bonaventure for their invaluable guidance. What I Built: ✅ A Machine Learning Model: Predicts customer churn with impressive accuracy. ✅ An Interactive App: Makes it easy to visualize and act on the insights. 🔗 Check out the project on GitHub: https://lnkd.in/dKvvRMKg 🖥️ Interact with the app https://lnkd.in/dmn7nvgf Recommendations: 1️⃣ Focus on Transaction Features Total_Trans_Ct and Total_Trans_Amt are significant predictors. Segment customers based on transaction count or amount to uncover trends and behaviors. 2️⃣ Analyze Balance-Related Features Explore Total_Revolving_Bal and Avg_Utilization_Ratio for patterns. Investigate customers with high utilization ratios or revolving balances to identify risky or profitable segments. 3️⃣ Feature Optimization Reassess features like Gender, Card_Category, and Marital_Status. Dropping low-importance features may simplify the model without reducing performance. 4️⃣ Model Enhancement Engineer features such as transaction frequency over time. Explore interactions between Total_Trans_Ct and Total_Trans_Amt. 5️⃣ Business Insights Develop campaigns to engage customers with high transaction counts but low amounts. Address inactivity (Months_Inactive_12_mon) through re-engagement strategies. This project challenged me to leverage data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model optimization techniques to craft a solution tailored for real-world applications. Your feedback and suggestions are always welcome! Let’s connect and share ideas. 😊 #MachineLearning #DataScience #CustomerAttrition #Python #OpenSource
