The ICT infrastructure in government and low cost schools in Kenya is quite a heartbreaking sight. More disheartening is the continuous rhetoric on the effort that needs to be directed at equipping African children for the digital economy.  The World Bank identified 4 pillars for the digital economy; among them ICT infrastructure and digital literacy.  Question is, whose responsibility is it to see the African child properly prepared to equitably compete for opportunities in the digital economy? We all want wealth. That’s the basic thing every human seeks after since time in the memorial. The only difference is that we all have different things that we define as wealth. To some, wealth may be money, a lot of it, while to others, it may be good health, while to others, it may be peace. We all have our various definitions of what we view wealth to be, and I also have my own. What do I consider wealth ? It's really simple and clich'e😂I actually borrowed this from my grandfather. A man I truly admire and respect, and I aspire to walk in his footsteps. A great task that is, but sure I would go a great mile to fill such big shoes. Back to what I term wealth to be, wealth is being an anchor to your surroundings and helping build up everyone around you to levels of sustainability that eventually lifts not only you but also those around you to a status of reverence. That then sparks up the fiery questions, have I ammersed any wealth so far? Have I anchored those around me to grow to be sustainable individuals? Do those around me regard me as a venerable man and member of their society? The answer is no, not yet. I am still on that unpliable journey but I am getting there. The strides I have made are of substance and sure would be of fruition. I am sure you are wondering what strides? By taking the initiative to be a mentor to budding innovative kids Woodcreek School - Nairobi. who seek to bring sustainable solutions to their respective societies. You are probably wondering how that is wealth. It is as simple as it is. By being a guide to the young minds that are the drivers of change in the future, I am making my mark as an anchor to these kids, helping them stand firm with principles, attributes, and skills to bring about sustainable development. Each one of us has that one teacher/mentor/instructor that we have immense enamor and respect for for how they shaped us to be the best versions of ourselves. To me, they are the most wealthy of all. Leaving a mark and legacy within us and carrying their teachings and shapings and passing them on to others building on their strong foundations. Having bearing this in mind, I am forging and shaping my own path to building my wealth by equiping myself with the necessary mentoring skills of the 21st century so as to pass on the legacy instilled in me unto the next generations. Capping off, what do you define wealth to be and what are you doing to achieve it? #education #mentor #wealth

Progress is the gear towards betterment. Africa in it's own has a vast potential for progress. Within us we have a lot of resources to row us forward in the sea of development. We can't surely sit lax with where we are as a continent while our counterparts in the rest of the globe make major strides in improving their status. True to it, comparsion is the thief of joy but at the same time from a better, clear and optimistic lens is the perfect food in feeding to the hunger of wanting to be in the same level as the one the comparison is made to. We may choose to take a step back and feel pitty for ourselves and say that we are where we are because we do not have what the other countries from the West have or we may show indepth peturbation in where we are and fully achieve our utilitarian nature as human beings and put to use the resources in our baskets and make strides to become in level if not close to as the West members. There are many ways to achieve this, and it involves selecting the sections that are extensively aligned with the resources right infront of us. As the saying goes, "pick your own poison and let it kill you." is the same way we chose our own path as Digifunzi in making positive strides with the objective of making Africa stand out with the rest using technology. Betterment is change and change does not happen overnight and for one to expect such would be tantamount to insanity. To drive the betterment of our continent through change, we started by transforming ourselves as extensions of Digifunzi. Our aim was to put Africa on the world map before endeavoring to drive change among the broader population. We sought to create a microcosm within our surroundings before extending it beyond our borders. Having achieved the initial stage of the betterment change initiative, we now sought to address the crux of our objective: how to achieve indubitable change and betterment on our continent. Enters Whitney Houston with her strong powerful words, "I believe the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way. " (I know you are singing along to this right now😂) Taking heed of these words we sought out to make an impact on change in our continent using technology through educational initiatives for kids. Not in a traditional, classroom setting way of education structure but rather in a fun, interactive, project-based innovation nurturing kind of way that makes the African child have the zeal to learn, grow and create solutions to the challenges facing them and the continent as a whole. Coding and robotics as a part of the wider spectrum of technology is one of the many arrows in Africa's quiver that can be used to bring about positive strides that would better the African sod and edge us closer to the West. Giving the African child this arrow to fight their way through the war of incessant developments by the West and emerge among the victors in the betterment war. #innovation #technology #Africa #kids
