Commission for the Rights of Persons with Disability (CRPD) Malta reposted this
EASE project linking to Human Rights and EU policies Human Rights Day, celebrated annually on December 10, marks the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. This year, we highlight the importance of accessible language as a tool for promoting equality and inclusivity. Accessible communication ensures that individuals, especially those with disabilities, can fully participate in society by understanding and engaging with essential information. The EASE project (Easy – Accessible - Simple - Effective), co-funded by the EU under Erasmus+, aligns with this vision by developing tools and training for the creation of Easy Language materials that are inclusive and empowering. The partners of the EASE project—including CPRD Malta, Puzzle SE, Cyprus Certification Company (CCC), and Boarve Konsult—cooperate to address the need for certified professionals and clear guidelines to produce accessible information. This collaborative effort supports the implementation of the European Accessibility Act, which mandates that by June 2025, products and services across the EU, including digital communication, must meet standardized accessibility criteria. Together, the project and the directive represent significant strides toward a more inclusive Europe, where accessibility is not just an ideal but a legal requirement. #CRPD #Puzzle #EasyLanguage #Inclusion Read more about the European Accessibility Act here: https://lnkd.in/dZenV7Gr

Members of #CRPD's #Disability #Equality #Training team, Joann Spiteri, Blaine Schembri, and Kevin Attard, held two #disabilityawareness assemblies at St. Margaret College, Middle School in Cospicua yesterday. The main topics discussed included disability, bullying, and respect. The team shared their personal experiences, and the #students engaged well, asking questions that our team members were happy to answer.
