After securing our first investment in the direct lithium extraction (DLE) tech company, Lithios, we are already collaborating with this promising startup. Lithios is developing an innovative electrochemical platform to produce sustainable, low-cost lithium from untapped resources. We visited Tecpetrol's plant in Olacapato, located 3,800 meters above sea level in the heart of Argentina’s Puna, in Salta province. It was a fantastic trip, alongside Oscar Turner, Mohammad A. Alkhadra and Tomás Rauch, as we focused on scaling Lithios’ technology. We’re excited to explore synergies and growth opportunities within our Group. Together, we’re paving the way for a future of more efficient and sustainable lithium production! We are excited to announce our strategic investment in Lithios, a pioneering developer of an Advanced Lithium Extraction (ALE) platform that aims to unlock low-cost, sustainably sourced lithium supplies. This investment aligns with our mission to foster a more competitive and sustainable lithium extraction industry. Lithios is at the forefront of creating the first scalable electrochemical lithium capture solution, which efficiently extracts lithium from untapped brine deposits where existing methods fall short. Its novel electrochemical process is designed for capital efficiency and low resource intensity, consuming ten times less energy than traditional direct lithium extraction (DLE) methods when processing low-grade lithium sources. This innovative approach not only enhances resource accessibility but also significantly reduces environmental impact. Lithios' technology enables miners, operators, and the broader battery supply chain to access sources of lithium previously considered uneconomic and inaccessible due to challenging contaminant profiles and resource constraints. The round was led by Clean Energy Ventures, collaborating with other key partners GS Futures Lowercarbon Capital, and MassCEC Internships. 👋 Swipe to discover the advantages of ALE technology. 📝 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/ewXQUeis #DirectLithiumExtraction #AdvancedLithiumExtraction #EnergyTransition

Meet Andrea Siciliani, a pivotal founding member of TechEnergy Ventures. Drawing on his background in aerospace engineering and complemented by an MBA, Andrea transitioned into the realm of corporate venturing. His journey began as an executive assistant to the chairman at Techint Group, where he gained firsthand exposure to high-level executive meetings and a deep understanding of corporate strategy. It was during his time in the role that he became instrumental in the launch of Techint's corporate development unit focused on sustainability. In 2022, this effort led to the creation of the Corporate Venture Capital division, where he drives investments. Currently, Andrea leads the charge in Hydrogen, Long Duration Energy Storage, and Steel investments. Additionally, he is overseeing the organization of a seed funding round for an internal hydrogen startup. This venture, which employs methane pyrolysis to produce hydrogen, underscores TechEnergy's commitment to fostering innovation within their ecosystem. Stay tuned as Andrea Siciliani continues to steer TechEnergy Ventures towards pioneering advancements in sustainable energy solutions! 🚀✨ #TechEnergy #Sustainability #HydrogenInnovation
